WILMINGTON, MA — Here are highlights from the Wilmington Police Log for the week of Sunday, September 11, 2016.
Sunday, September 11:
- Police noticed a vehicle in the Town Hall parking lot. Occupants were playing Pokemon Go and were sent on their way. (1:04am)
- A Buckingham Road resident reported sometime between 11pm last night and now, the times on two of her vehicles were slashed. (9:24am)
- A caller reported a chihuahua locked in a gray 2008 Nissan in the TJ Maxx parking lot. Windows were only cracked open, dog was in the vehicle for at least a half an hour, and dog was barking at one point. Police responded, but vehicle was gone unpon arrival. (3:23pm)
- A man outside the entrance of Market Basket asking for signatures reported another man started an argument with him and threatened him. The accused man got into his car and drove past the store several times. By the time police responded, the accused man was no longer on the scene. (7:05pm)
- The man who was gathering signatures called the police back saying the man that allegedly threatened him was now tailgating him on Main Street. Police waited for the man at his home and spoke with him. Situation was described as just an argument over a difference of opinion. (7:25pm)
Monday, September 12:
- A 2009 Toyota Rav 4 and a green 2006 Honda Odyssey were involved in a minor crash at AL Prime on Main Street. No injuries reported. Both vehicles towed. (5:46am)
- Police received a report of a wire down over the sidewalk near the Woburn Street School parking lot. Police notified Verizon. (7:31am)
- A Wabash Road caller reported their vehicle was broken into overnight, but it appeared nothing was missing. (8:00am)
- Marc J. Power (40, Wilmington) was arrested on warrants for numerous offenses, including OUI Alcohol, Possession of Open Container; OUI Alcohol (2nd Offense); Reckless Operation of a Motor Vehicle; Marked Lanes Violation; Speeding. (9:30am)
- A caller reported a shoplifter at Savers. Store made contact with the alleged culprit and recovered some of the merchandise. (1:27pm)
- A Salem Street resident reported their 2 blue trash barrels were stolen. (2:03pm)
- Nakeyta A. McKinney (40, Brockston) was issued a summons for a larceny over $250 and uttering a counterfeit note. The incident happened at Target. (5:29pm)
Tuesday, September 13:
- A caller reported finding an abandoned suitcase and hypodermic needles under the Concord Street/I-93 bridge while running. Police noted lots of trash, but no needles. (11:30am)
- A Lucaya Circle resident reported a phone scam. (11:48am)
- A Longview Road resident reported his identity was stolen and he is receiving collection notices. (12:09pm)
- Police received report of a tire in the first lane on 93 South, near Exit 41. Police notified Mass Highway. (2:23pm)
- A caller reported a motorcycle driver was operating erratically on Burlington Avenue, possibly texting while driving. Police were unable to locate. (5:55pm)
- A gray 2002 Volkswagen Jetta and a gray 2011 Nissan Versa were involved in a heads-on crash in front of Rite Aid on Main Street. Both vehicles deployed. Both airbags deployed. Both operators refused transport. One operator was cited for failure to yield. (6:11pm)
- A Swain Road resident reported her debit card was taken out of her vehicle sometime overnight and used. (10:39pm)
Wednesday, September 14:
- A caller reported a black male, approximately 35 years, was walking around the Main Street/Butters Row area with no shoes on. Police gave the man a ride to Tewksbury. (7:23am)
- Police notified DPW that a speed limit sign was knocked down on Woburn Street. (8:21am)
- A domesticated dove was removed from a Shawsheen Avenue home and brought to MSPCA/Nevins Farm. (10:07am)
- A blue 2012 Toyota Camry and a brown 2001 Nissan Altima were involved in a minor car crash in the Rite Aid parking lot. (11:49am)
- A black 2008 Honda Pilot, gray 2014 Toyota Camry and a red 2016 Mazda CX5 were involved in a crash on Middlesex Avenue. One vehicle was towed. No injuries noted. (11:55am)
- A town employee reported a small green pickup truck frequently parks behind Town Hall and that the occupants walk into the woods for Class D drug activities. Employee says the truck is parked in the lot. Police responded and checked on the parties. They admitted to utilizing the trails and ocassionally using a Class D in the past there, but they both checked OK at this time. (12:37pm)
- Fire and Police responded to a disabled vehicle leaking gas on Hopkins Street. (2:37pm)
- A Wabash Road resident requested nightly patrols of the area due to recent car break-ins over the last few weeks. (4:21pm)
- Police received a report of man harassing employees at McDonald’s on Main Street. Police responded and sent the man on his way. Police provided the manager with paperwork for a no trespass order. (7:39pm)
- A walk-in party reported he captured suspicious activity on his trail cam. (8:32pm)
Thursday, September 15:
- A truck driver reported he quit working for company while on the road. He is back at the trucking load on Fordham Road to return the truck. He requested assistance as threats were made over the phone by his employer. Police responded. The truck was dropped of without incident. (12:53am)
- A caller reported a dog was left in a locked vehicle on Middlesex Avenue. Animal Control Officer responded and spoke to the dog owner, who was just finishing up some business and assured him it was not an ongoing issue. (10:06am)
- Animal Control Officer removed 1 cat and 6 kittens from a Hillcrest Road residence and brought to an animal hospital in Ipswich. (11:06am)
- A party collecting signatures outside Market Basket claimed he was assaulted by an unknown party. Suspect reportedly got into a truck belonging to Town Fair Tire. (11:57am)
- A party reported his son was struck by a vehicle while riding his bike on Main Street. No injuries noted. Vehicle was reported a red Subaru with unknown license plate number driven by a man over 60. (2:44pm)
- A black 2014 Nissan Maxima and a white 2011 Hyundai Sonata were involved in a crash at Middlesex Avenue and Pleasant Drive. One occupant was transported the hospital. (6:37pm)
- The Reading Fire Department responded to a multi-car accident in the high speed lane on 93 South prior to Exit 37C. One party seen was laying the roadway. (6:42pm)
- A caller reported a male party with an orange backpack and skateboard were approaching vehicles near Sonic on Main Street. Police transported the male party – a juvenile – to his residence. (10:58pm)
Friday, September 16:
- An injured bird was reported on the roof of Aramark Refreshment Services on Ballardvale Street. The bird was removed with the assistance of the Fire Department and taken to a vet in Tewksbury. (9:26am)
- A Salem Street caller reported a school zone sign was close to falling over due to rust and wind. DPW removed the sign and will replace on Monday. (12:44pm)
- A caller reported a group of kids threw a metal bar as his black 2016 Honda Civic while in the Sonic parking lot. Kids fled behind Ristuccia Arena. Police did not observe an visible damage to the Civic. (2:55pm)
- Police assisted a driver who locked himself out of a vehicle on Milton Way. (2:59pm)
- A walk-in party reported $50 was stolen from her at the Registry of Motor Vehicles. (2:43pm)
- A motorcycle and car were involved in a crash at Jacquith Road and Kendall Street. No injuries noted. Motorcycle was towed. (4:43pm)
- A red 2012 Toyota Prius and a blue 2015 Ford Explorer were involved in a crash at Woburn Street and Lowell Street. No injuries reported. (6:30pm)
- A Swain Road resident reported their car was broken into overnight with several items taken. (6:32pm)
- A resident reported a car drove by and threw a bottle through their car’s rear window on Cunningham Street. (9:38pm)
Saturday, September 17:
- A Beeching Avenue caller reported a dog was barking for the past 45 minutes. Police responded and spoke with the dog’s owner, who brought the dog inside for the night. (1:31am)
- A brown 2006 Hyundai Elantra and a black 2015 Nissan Pathfinder were involved in a crash at Salem Street and Cunningham Street. No injuries reported. (7:39pm)
- Dean M. Serounian (41, Wilmington) was issued a summons for having an uninsured motor vehicle and operating an unlicensed motor vehicle. (9:16am)
- A Taft Road resident reported a skunk was acting impaired in his yard. Animal Control Officer brought the skunk to the Andover Animal Hospital. (9:58am)
- A Fernbank Road caller reported an unknown man in the conservation area behind his house with a chainsaw taking down trees. Police were unable to locate the man. (10:12am)
- An Adams Street resident reported his mailbox was stolen last night. It was previously damaged on Labor Day weekend, but he did not report it. (10:21am)
- Police received report an unknown male in backyards on King Street, knocking on doors and windows, asking for a wood stove, and taking pictures of belongings on property. Police sent the man on his way and monitored his behavior. (11:02am)
- The hydrant in front of Yentile Farm on Cross Street was gushing. Police notified the Water Department. (12:31pm)
- Police made an arrest for an OUI (Liquor), marked lanes violation, and possession of an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle. Police also issued a summons for leaving the scene of property damage. (7:48pm)
- Police took Ronald W. Stocker (26, Billerica) into protective custody after he was found laying on the ground outside of St. Thomas Church. (8:52pm)
- A Horseshoe Lane caller reported she returned from a weeklong business trip and believes someone may have been in her apartment while she was gone. She requested an officer to complete a walkthrough. Situation checked OK. (9:48pm)
- A caller reported a suspicious vehicle in her driveway. Police responded. An uber driver was at the wrong address for a pickup. (10:30pm)
