WILMINGTON, MA — The Wilmington High School Girls Cross Country team (0-2) was defeated by Arlington High School, 15-50, on Tuesday, September 20 at home.
Junior Lailoo Perrillo (23:48) and Senior Captain Anna De La Cruz (24:04) worked very well together for much of the race. Head Coach Brian Schell noted that Lailoo continues to battle a hip issue, but has hung in there and “shows true grit.”
Sophomore Amie Russell clocked in at 26:10, freshman Heather Ritson finished at 30:28, senior Lian Tran ran a 32:28, and freshman Gina Bertolani earned a 33:53.
“Overall, today was another solid performance,” said Schell. “The kids showed great signs of teamwork. It is this type teamwork which is going to push each of them to potentially obtain bigger team goals in the future.”
Schell will continue to stress teamwork amongst his runners as the undermanned Wildcat team consistently battles larger teams.
