WILMINGTON, MA — The Wilmington High School Boys Cross Country team (0-2) fell to Arlington High, 17-45, on Tuesday, September 20 at home.
“We knew that going into the meet that it was going to be a tough situation,” explained Head Coach Brian Schell. “Arlington is potentially one of the top four teams in the entire league. I geared today’s race more towards teamwork and working together. Each athlete was paired up and worked off each other every half mile. For a lost of them, they set new personal records.”
Senior captain Jason Dunn (17:41) and sophomore Kevin Elderd (17:58) led the way for the Wildcats, finishing 4th and 8th respectively.
Schell was especially proud of junior Jesse Valente (19:00) and freshman Greg Adamek (19:09) for buying into the importance of teamwork and working off one another every half mile perfectly. Both accomplished personal records of 19:00 and 19:09.
Schell also praised sophomore Ben Packer for a solid performance, clocking in at 19:48, a personal best Schell attributed his success, in part, to being more consistent with his splits.
