RMLD To Celebrate Public Power Week With Open House On October 6

READING, MA — Reading Municipal Light Department (RMLD) is celebrating National Public Power Week, October 3-7, along with more than 2,000 other electric utilities across the country that collectively provide electricity on a not-for-profit basis to 47 million Americans.

On Thursday, October 6, from 2pm to 5pm, RMLD will host an Open House for its customers at 218 Ash Street in Reading.

“As a public power utility, we are dedicated to ensuring excellent customer service, system reliability, energy savings programs and some of the lowest rates in the state,” said RMLD General Manager Coleen O’Brien. “This annual event gives us the opportunity to interact with our customers, to introduce them to our staff and show them what we do here at RMLD to bring them safe, affordable energy.”

RMLD invites community members to participate in an educational Open House for children and adults at 218 Ash Street in Reading on Thursday, October 6, from 2-5 pm.

Open House activities include:

  • LED lightbulbs and holiday lights sale up to 50% off
  • Lineman safety equipment demonstration
  • Lineman dress-up
  • Bucket truck rides
  • Electric cars and charging stations
  • Tree trimming presentation
  • Face painting, crafts, decorating pumpkins, games
  • Learn about transmission, distribution, electric meters, customer service programs and more
  • Safety and conservation tips
  • Free drinks and snacks and more!
