POLICE LOG for September 15: Child Struck By Vehicle; Assault At Market Basket; Highway Crash

WILMINGTON, MA  — Here are EIGHT highlights from the Wilmington Police Log for Thursday, September 15, 2016:

  • A truck driver reported he quit working for company while on the road. He is back at the trucking load on Fordham Road to return the truck. He requested assistance as threats were made over the phone by his employer. Police responded. The truck was dropped of without incident. (12:53am)
  • A caller reported a dog was left in a locked vehicle on Middlesex Avenue. Animal Control Officer responded and spoke to the dog owner, who was just finishing up some business and assured him it was not an ongoing issue. (10:06am)
  • Animal Control Officer removed 1 cat and 6 kittens from a Hillcrest Road residence and brought to an animal hospital in Ipswich. (11:06am)
  • A party collecting signatures outside Market Basket claimed he was assaulted by an unknown party. Suspect reportedly got into a truck belonging to Town Fair Tire. (11:57am)
  • A party reported his son was struck by a vehicle while riding his bike on Main Street. No injuries noted. Vehicle was reported a red Subaru with unknown license plate number driven by a man over 60. (2:44pm)
  • A black 2014 Nissan Maxima and a white 2011 Hyundai Sonata were involved in a crash at Middlesex Avenue and Pleasant Drive. One occupant was transported the hospital. (6:37pm)
  • The Reading Fire Department responded to a multi-car accident in the high speed lane on 93 South prior to Exit 37C. One party seen was laying the roadway. (6:42pm)
  • A caller reported a male party with an orange backpack and skateboard were approaching vehicles near Sonic on Main Street. Police transported the male party – a juvenile – to his residence. (10:58pm)
