Wilmington Youth Soccer’s Latest In-Town Game Summaries (September 17)

WILMINGTON, MA — Below are Wilmington Youth Soccer in-town game summaries from Saturday, September 17, 2016.

Girls Kinders:

Houston Dash

Top-Notch play kept people watching this one. Excellent offensive plays by Allaina Holman, Isabella Deoliveira and Siobhan Dicarlo applied heavy pressure causing the Home team to back pedal. Defensive positioning by Kelsie Morrow, Bella McCarthy and Emily Viveiros fended off any threat that came thru making it tough for the Home team to advance. Everyone played a great first game and had lots of fun, making us excited for the season to come.

 Boys Kinders:

 Houston Dynamo

Nobody stayed home for these action packed games. Week 1 showcased many teams in a round robin format.  The Houston Dynamo’s Ryan MacPherson, Michael Duffy and Ryan Heos scored, getting the crowd jumping out of their seats. Outstanding offense by Aryan Ranjith and Conner Mangini set up many scoring chances in all of the 3 games. The flawless defense of Benjamin Card, Michael Duffy and Ryan MacPherson provided great protection of the goal

Girls Grade 1 Games:

Chicago Red Star vs. FC Kansas City

The crowds gathered at the Shawsheen fields for this back and forth game. The Chicago Red Starled by Ella Goulld got the crowd jumping out of their seats.  Ava Szczesuil led the scoring charge, while the great defensive effort of Julia Heller kept the action going.

Boys Grade 1 Games:

Houston Dynamo vs. LA Galaxy

The air was full of excitement, as the much-anticipated match between the Houston Dynamo and the LA Galaxy commenced. Fantastic ball skill were displayed byMatthew Lawler, Caden Merritt and Declan Perry resulting in goals by Christopher Cali The midfield and defensive play of Colin Finn, Ammar Khenifar, Dylan Perry and Thomas Macgilvray kept the Houston Dynamo in excellent shape.

DC United vs. NE Revolution

The DC United Nolan Acquaah-Harrison, Jackson Cippole, Brady Cassidy and Mark Cataldo stayed on their toes creating many scoring opportunities. The play of Arnav Dwivedi, Bijon Pourshadi and Griffin Crowe shut down the other end of the field on defense that set the tone for this game.

Girls Grade 2 Games:

Boston Breakers vs. FC Kansas City

On the other side of the ball for FC Kansas City was an incredible offensive performance by Katie Perkins, Madison O’Donoghue, Kalea Lamb, Jenna Giammarco and Heidi Ferrer, while goals scored by Vivian Ragsdale got FC Kansas City on the board. With a rock solid defensive stand led by Bailey O’Connor, Lucia Mendoza, Anne Reppucci and Emma Tarin FC Kansas City was never out of this game. The goalie tandem of Mia Machado and Isabel Carriere could only be classified as awesome.

Nobody stayed home for this action packed game against the Boston Breakers and the FC Kansas City. The Boston Breakers Megan Smith, Molly Guyette, Abigail Engvaldsen and Anna Heiplik scored, getting the crowd jumping out of their seats. Outstanding offense by Claire Connelly, Emma Nolan, Charrlotte Kiley, Hailey Reguera,  Alliana Pilcher set up many scoring chances. The flawless defense of Madison Forbush, Elisabeth Gillis,Mia Barresi and Katlyn Costello provided great protection for the Goal Keepers.

Boys Grade 2 Games:

NE Revolution vs. LA Galaxy

A tough outing for the New England Revolution as they took on the LA Galaxy on a hot Saturday afternoon.  From the opening whistle, the Revolution goalies of Cameron Molina, Preston Hunt, Ian Heos and Michael O’Hearn where constantly tested at various times from the potent Galaxy offensive.  Spectacular saves where not enough to stop them.  The Revolution midfield led by Joshua Nille, Aiden O’Hearn, and Thomas Murphy sinked up with the strikers Daniel D’Augusta and Jackson Hagerty to create multiple opportunities only to come up shy.  Cole Falk finally found the net for the Revolution on a great combination play started from the back by Nate Anderson.  The Revolution take on DC United next in what could be another exciting match up.

The air was full of excitement, as the much-anticipated match between L.A. Galaxy and New England Revolution commenced. Fantastic ball skill were displayed by Joe Mytych, Jake Driscoll, and Nicholas Melaragni resulting in goals by Gavin Poirier. The midfield and defensive play of Jackson Griffith, Jack Mahnken, Kyle Price and Oskar Arnold kept the L.A. Galaxy in excellent shape. The crowd roared to their feet when Parker Canevari and Ethan Laconte made some spectacular saves.

DC United vs. Chicago Fire

The Chicago Fire would not back down from this back and forth match. A goal by Ben Harris brought the crowd to a frenzy. A spectacular display of defensive skills was shown by Aiden Harris, Jonathan Malley, Jake Arsenault, and Richard Holland. In addition, the midfield play of Dillan Roberts, Jack Cronin, Devin DeGennaro, Collin Holman, and Jack Morin kept constant pressure on the opponent’s net.  It was an outstanding team effort capped off with great goal keeping by Jack Cronin and Devin DeGennaro.
