WILMINGTON, MA — Here are highlights from the Wilmington Police Log for the week of Sunday, September 4, 2016.
Sunday, September 4:
- Police noted the traffic lights at Middlesex Avenue and Glen Road were in a flashing mode. (12:35am)
- Police put out a small fire on the footpath behind the Ristuccia Arena. (12:49am)
- Police notified DPW that the street sign and stop sign at Adams Street and Parker Street were bent over. (6:06am)
- Police notified Mass Highway that the light pole at Main Street and Clark Street was bent. (6:53am)
- A blue 2009 Subaru Outback struck a wall on Dobson Street. No injuries noted (8:57am)
- A purple Thruster bicycle was found abandoned on Chestnut Street. (9:09am)
- A caller reported an elderly woman on crutches walking towards Lucci’s. Caller was concerned for her well-being. Elderly woman’s niece picked her up. (10:17am)
- A Burlington resident lost his iPhone and tracked it through the “Find My Phone” app to a Lake Street residence in Wilmington. Police retrieved the phone and returned it to the owner. (6:05pm)
- A patron at Golden Ginger anonymously reported that underage people were being served alcohol. Police responded and everyone served was above the legal age for alcohol consumption. (7:45pm)
- Resident near Aldrich Road and Buckingham Road reported hearing sounds of gunshots. Police believed it to be fireworks on Presidential Drive. (9:19pm)
- Police and Fire responded to a brush fire on Presidential Drive due to fireworks. (9:21pm)
- A Heather Drive resident reported a teenage boy has been ringing his doorbell in the past half four. Caller believes he heads towards Freeport Drive. Police observed the teen, who was over a friend’s house, and had his father pick him up. (9:59pm)
Monday, September 5:
- Steven M. Guglielmi (33, Billerica) was arrested for an OUI (2nd Offense). (12:36am)
- An employee mistakenly pressed the hold-up panic button at the Shell Station on Main Street. (9:33am)
- Police notified Mass Highway regarding traffic lights not properly cycling at the Main Street and Burlington Avenue intersection. (10:06am)
- Fire Department responded to a living room fire on Ohio Street. Homeowner extinguished the fire prior to the Fire Department’s arrival. (11:43am)
- A roof alarm went off at NNR Global Logistics USA on Ballardvale Street. Building checked secured. Police believed a flock of seagulls on the roof ay have triggered the alarm. (2:47pm)
- Homeowner reported a possible brushfire in the woods behind her house. Fire Department responded. (3:22pm)
- A caller reported 4 youths riding bicycles through the cemetery. Youths were gone by the time police arrived. Police followed up with caller in-person. (5:32pm)
- A caller reported a pair of Beats headphones were taken from his son’s unlocked truck overnight on Swain Road. (5:35pm)
- A gray 2014 Mazda Tourin and a black 2011 Jeep Liberty were involved in a minor crash at Shawsheen Avenue and Aldrich Road. No injuries reported. (6:08pm)
- Ryan Timothy Harrington (25, Burlington) was arrested on warrants and being a fugitive from justice. Police observed a suspicious man crossing Butters Row and entering the woods. Police followed and located the man deep in the woods with a tent. (6:35pm)
- Police notified Water Department of a broken manhole cover in the parking lot next to the Learning Experience on Main Street. (8:32pm)
Tuesday, September 6:
- A black 2016 Toyota Corolla and a green 2002 Ford Explorer were involved in a crash in front of Chili’s on Main Street. An off-duty firefighter was immediately on scene providing treatment. Fire Department transported one of the drivers to the hospital. One vehicle was towed. Police notified Mass. DOT to fix a traffic light post that was damaged. (8:21am)
- Cullen Maroney (20, Wilmington) was arrested on a warrant of apprehension. Police transported him to Woburn District Court. (12:36pm)
- Police notified DPW that a manhole needed replacing near Hub International New England on Ballardvale Street. (1:56pm)
- A Glen Road caller reported a couple of chickens were in their yard. Police responded. Chickens were returned to a home on Loumac Road. Police advised chickens’ owner and the Board of Health. (2:28pm)
- Police notified DPW about an abandoned ladder on the sidewalk near the Congregational Church on Middlesex Avenue. (3:18pm)
- Police received a report of an elderly male on the side of the road on Woburn Street making inappropriate gestures to passing vehicles. (5:25pm)
- Owner of a gray 2011 Honda Pilot reported a hit and run in the Market Basket parking lot. No description was provided on the vehicle that fled. (6:39pm)
- Police received a complaint of 2 cats and a dog inside a black Volkswagen in the Market Basket parking lot. Vehicle left prior to the officer’s arrival. (7:15pm)
- Daniel Joseph McCarthy (26, Wilmington) was arrested for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license (subsequent offense.) (7:39pm)
- Ronald Mastropietro (29, Beverly), a passenger of McCarthy’s, was arrested for possession of a Class E drug. (7:39pm)
- A red 2008 Hummer struck a telephone pole near Burger King on Lowell Street. Police notified Verizon. No injuries noted. (11:05pm)
Wednesday, September 7:
- An employee at Benevento’s on Salem Street reported wire stolen from one of the machines. (7:23am)
- A Wakefield Avenue resident requested extra patrols at night, stating there has been an excessive amount of juveniles she believes partying in the woods and causing a nuisance. (8:10am)
- Police noted a stop sign was done in the roadway at Grove Avenue and Lake Street. It appeared someone skidded into the sign and took off. Police notified DPW. (8:27am)
- An Agostino Drive caller reported 4 men approached her home offering do a pavement job. Police were unable to locate the men. (12:34pm)
- Robert John Kogut (22, Leominster) was issued a summons for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and failure to wear a seat belt. (1:55pm)
- A Chestnut Street caller reported a discarded needle near driveway. (3:09pm)
- Craig J. Marino (41, Reading) was arrested for an OUI Liquor (2nd offense) and the possession of an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle. (7:30pm)
Thursday, September 8:
- A white 2007 Nissan Murano and gray 2015 Toyota Rav4 were involved in a crash near Dunkin Donuts on Main Street. Both parties declined medical treatment. (7:11am)
- A caller reported a man was sleeping inside a vehicle on Fairmont Avenue. Police responded. Man claimed to be a painter working in the area. (8:16am)
- Police received a report of a fox running around near St. Thomas on Middlesex Avenue. Police notified the Animal Control Officer. (9:36am)
- Police received a second call regarding the fox, which was on the lawn of the church. Fox appears sick and is aggressive when people come close by. Fox eventually ran into the woods. (10:06am)
- A man told police he went inside Main Street Consignment & Thrift on Main Street for a few minutes, leaving a gray Huffy bike outside. When he came outside, the bike was gone. Man had left his bike in an area where free merchandise is typically left. Bike was mistakenly taken and eventually returned. (10:54am)
- John R. Tobin (31, Wilmington) was arrested on a warrant of apprehension and transported to Woburn District Court. (10:59am)
- A gray 2003 Honda Accord and a green 2000 Subaru Forester were involved in a crash near Speedway on Main Street. No injuries noted. Both vehicles were towed. (12:45pm)
- Police assisted a driver with moving his vehicle off the roadway after running out of gas on Aldrich Road. A family member was en route to assist the driver. (4:31pm)
- Police assisted a driver who locked himself out of his vehicle while pumping gas at Shell on Main Street. (9:48pm)
Friday, September 9:
- A Forest Street caller requested traffic enforcement between 6:45am and 7:15am during the weekdays. (8:58am)
- A Forest Street caller requested a call from the Animal Control Officer regarding a skunk in her yard. Animal Control Officer brought skunk to Andover Animal Hospital (9am)
- A caller reported that in the morning and in the afternoon during school bus pick up and drop off at Main Street and Walker Street, numerous vehicles are not stopping when bus is stopped with stop sign out and lights flashing. (1:47pm)
- Adalverto Polanco (27, Lawrence) was issued a summons for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and speeding. (2:13pm)
- Police received report of two small puppies left in a black Tahoe, with the windows rolled up, behind Planet Fitness. Vehicle was gone by the time police arrived. (4pm)
- Police received multiple calls reporting the railroad arms were going up and down repeatedly on Salem Street, only letting a few cars through at a time. Amtrak and MBTA were notified and responded. (4:39pm)
- A caller reported an erratic operator cut him off near Lucci’s and yelled threats out his window, making gestures. Police were unable to locate the vehicle. (5:52pm)
- A passerby reported a group of 20+ juveniles were in the Market Basket parking lot, possibly using a Class D substance. Police responded and found no evidence of a Class D substance. (9:08pm)
- Police received a report of an ATV speeding up and down Buckingham Road. Police were unable to locate. (9:39pm)
- Caller was the last customer in the Burger King drive-thru. The car behind him was refused service and when it drove by, the occupants threw coins at this car, causing scratches. Police responded and did not observe any noticeable damage to the vehicle. Other car in question was not located. (10:47pm)
Saturday, September 10:
- A Glen Road resident reported finding items moved in his yard. His dog was barking. Resident requested an officer check an old trailer in the yard. Police responded. Yard checked secure. (7:05am)
- K9 Ridic attended the Back To School Safety program organized by the Middlesex DA in Woburn. (9:12am)
- An individual reported a large cement planter was taken from her brother’s gravesite at Wildwood cemetery. (11:13am)
- A Federal street resident reported her Dell laptop valued at $2,000 had been stolen during a party. (12:29pm)
- A North Washington Street resident reported being the victim of bank fraud. (12:43pm)
- A caller reported a coyote laying in the field behind the Wildwood Street School. Police responded. Coyote ran off into the woods. Coyote appeared healthy. (1:51pm)
- A caller reported there was a dead bird in Silver Lake by the pier. (6:32pm)
- Police restored the police over an argument on Cherokee Lane between neighbors. (6:35pm)
- A gray 2008 Honda Civic struck a tree on Andover Street. A witness reported the vehicle’s three occupants took off on foot after the crash. Natalie Jaeneeskylar Spinella (18, Lexington) was arrested for leaving the scene of property damage, person under 21 possessing liquor, misleading a police officer, and the negligent operation of a motor vehicle. Brandon Chouinard (18, Wilmington) was issued a summons for being a person under 21 in possession of liquor. Police also issued a summons to unidentified 17-year-old for possessing liquor. (8:07pm)
- Police received a report of four boys throwing tomatoes as passing cars at St. Dorothy’s. The group was gone by the time police arrived. (8:36pm)
- A caller reported approximately 15 juveniles hanging out on Poulilot Place, near Reed Street. Caller believed one boy was holding 4-5 eggs. Police located the group and found no eggs. (8:38pm)
