Sign Petition To Support Creation Of A National First Responders Day

SAUGUS, MA — Andrew Collier, the brother of MIT Police Officer Sean Collier, has been lobbying Congress since his brother’s death in 2013 to formally recognize the contributions and sacrifice of First Responders.

On September 28, Andrew is joining Congressman Michael Capuano in Washington D.C in hopes to convince Congress to create a National First Responders Day.

Hooters and NASCAR have teamed up to support Andrew’s efforts and first responders everywhere. On September 4, Greg Biffle revealed a vintage version Hooters car with the website FirstRespondersDay.org on the hood and rear bumper of the vehicle.

The FirstRespondersDay.org website describes Andrew’s fight to create a national holiday celebrating and honoring all First Responders, and asks supporters to post a picture on social media using the hashtag #OneWordOneDay while holding a sign with one word they believe best represents First Responders. The website also has a link to sign the petition for the bill Andrew and Congressman Capuano are proposing.

Hooters in Saugus (1143 Broadway) is having a day-long event on Tuesday, September 20th to show its support for a National First Responders Day by offering a free meal to all First Responders who attend. Inspired by Andrew’s story and cause, Hooters has joined the National Association of Police Organizations, the National Black Police Association and Thankyoufirstresponder.org to launch FirstRespondersDay.org.

If you cannot attend, please take a moment to support Andrew, Officer Sean Collier, and First Responders nationwide and sign the petition. PLEASE forward the information to a friend.
