SELECTMEN NEWS: Big Issues To Be Discussed At Tonight’s Meeting

WILMINGTON, MA — The Wilmington Board of Selectmen meets this Monday, September 12 at 7pm in Room 9 of Town Hall.

There is a great deal on the agenda, including:

  • Selectmen will have an open discussion on the town’s draft Facilities Master Plan.
  • Selectmen will hold a public hearing regarding a request from Green International to renew its earth removal permit for the Yentile Farm Recreational Facility. (While this is nothing more than a routine vote, Selectmen will  likely receive an update on the project’s progress.)
  • Selectmen will receive an update on the latest developments in the New England Transrail proposal.
  • Selectmen will receive a letter from the Board of Library Trustees regarding the recent $350,000 bequest of Barbara Johnson.
  • Selectmen will consider a request of Boy Scouts Troop 56 and the Wilmington United Methodist Church for licenses to sell Christmas Trees.
  • Selectmen will consider a request of the Recreation Commission to hold its 49th Annual Horribles Parade on October 30.
  • Selectmen will consider a request of Town Clerk Sharon George to appoint additional election workers. Selectmen will also receive a memo from Clerk regarding the state’s new early voting regulations.
  • Selectmen will consider a request from Police Chief Begonis and the Substance Abuse Coalition to use the Town Common and Gazebo for a Candlelight Vigil on Wednesday, October 5.
  • Selectmen will consider a request to illuminate the Wilmington Town Common gold in observance of childhood cancer awareness.
  • Selectmen will consider a request from a resident to hold a neighborhood block party on Jacobs Street.
  • Selectmen will review correspondence from the MBTA Advisory Board, the state’s Department of Telecommunications and Cable, and Textron.

The meeting will be telecast live by Wilmington Community Television on WCTV-G — Channel 22 on Comcast and Channel 38 on Verizon.  The meeting will also be streamed on WCTV’s website HERE.
