OBITUARY: Celina J. (MacDonald) Malatesta, 92

WILMINGTON, MA — Celina J. (MacDonald) Malatesta, age 92, of Wilmington, passed away peacefully on September 7th, 2016 with her loving family by her side. Born in Whiteside, Nova Scotia, Canada on October 15th, 1923, Celina was the beloved daughter of Joseph R. and Mary (Cameron) MacDonald. Celina married later in life, her friend and companion Walter Malatesta, and moved to Wilmington.

Although the couple never had children of their own, Celina treated her nieces and nephews as if they were hers. She was the center of the family. Celina was always fun and entertaining to be around. She enjoyed cooking and was happiest having family meals. Celina will truly be missed by her family and friends.

Celina was the beloved wife of the late Walter Malatesta. She is predeceased by her siblings; Ronald MacDonald, William MacDonald, Sandy MacDonald, Mary Walker, Eileen MacIntyre and Rita MacDonald. Celina is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will gather for visitation at the Nichols Funeral Home, Inc., 187 Middlesex Ave., (Rt. 62), Wilmington on Saturday, September 17th at 9:00 a.m. Immediately followed by a funeral mass at St. Dorothy’s Church, Main St. (Rt.38), Wilmington at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Celina’s name may be made to the Whiteside Church Preservation Society, www.stpatrickswhiteside.com.
