WILMINGTON, MA — The Wilmington High School Volleyball Team (0-1) opened its season with a 3-0 home loss against Woburn High on Wednesday, September 7.
The Wildcats dropped all three sets — Set 1 (9-25), Set 2 (24-26), and Set 3 (15-25).
Statistical leaders for the Wildcats included:
- Lauren Fields (10 serves, 8 assists)
- Morgan Bresnahan (9 serves with 4 aces)
- Heather Pozzi (9 serves with 3 aces)
- Caroline Andersen (5 kills)
- Sabrina Doyle (3 kills)
- Emily Hill (11 digs)
“While losing is never a great experience, the team showed some great heart in coming back from a tough loss in the first set to keep it close in the second set, only to fall just short,” says Head Coach Bruce Shainwald. “In spite of the final score, the third set was quite close for about the first half. Serving is a strength that we will continue to build on, while we develop the rest of the necessary skills to perform at a high level.”
