Adult Events

Overcoming Obstacles, Fears and Self-Doubts *RR
Monday, September 12, 10 am
How is your job search going?  Do you start the week with good intentions but find obstacles are getting in the way?  If so, join us for an interactive session on overcoming roadblocks, fears and self-doubt so you can shift perspective and turn that red light to a green light.  It is possible to find work you love that matters and is fulfilling.  Presented by Career and Life Coach Clare Harlow.

Great Decisions Series (limit 28, cost $25 for briefing book) *RR
Mondays September 12, 19, 26, Oct. 3, 17, 24, 7 pm
This six-session Great Decisions program will focus on some of the most thought-provoking foreign policy challenges facing Americans: Middle East Alliances, The Rise of ISIS, The Future of Kurdistan, Migration, The United Nations, and Climate Change. Participants will use a briefing book published by the Foreign Policy Association and will be led in discussion by facilitator, Keith West.

“How to” Tuesdays: How to Plan for Retirement *RR
Tuesday, September 13, 7 pm

Learn everything you need to know to determine your income needs and develop a plan for retirement.  Presented by WBZ’s financial expert Dave Caruso.

Selling on Craigslist and Amazon *RR
Wednesday, Sept. 14, 7 pm
Wilmington resident and Library Trustee Jeff Nussbaum, a successful Craigslist and Amazon seller, will provide advice on how to sell, provide sample postings, talk about good and bad practices, and identify scams to watch for.  (Skillshare)

Thursday, September 15, 2:30 pm
Enjoy listening to popular country and acoustic rock classics with singer/guitarist Joe Leary. Joe will channel the likes of John Fogarty, Charlie Rich, Bobby Darin, Elvis, and more for a toe tapping afternoon of musical memories.

Novel Ideas: Fiction Book Group
Thursday, September 15, 7 pm
Book Talkin’ with Eileen MacDougall will precede the book discussion 6:30-7pm. Great way to learn about new books!  Join us for a discussion of A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman .

Cemetery Stroll *RR
Saturday, September 17, 10 am
This year’s Cemetery Stroll will include visits to the gravestones of important Wilmington families. Eames, Butters, Bucks, Harndens, Carters, and Jaquiths are just a few of the names that appear frequently in the cemetery.  Learn what these families contributed to Wilmington’s history, while enjoying one of the most beautiful spots in our town.  Terry McDermott, Town Curator, will lead the stroll. Please meet in the parking lot behind the library. Wear your walking shoes!

September is National Library Card Sign Up Month. To celebrate and encourage residents to get a library card this month, Wilmington Memorial Library has partnered with the Wilmington Chamber of Commerce.  Just show your WML library card during the month of September at select businesses and you will receive a discount for a service or product. Saturday Hours
The library resumes Saturday hours on Saturday, September 10. Open 9 am to 5 pm.
