Town Issues Another Water Restriction Reminder Amid Drought Warning

WILMINGTON, MA — Residents are reminded that Wilmington has mandatory water restrictions that are in place 365 days a year. With the dry weather we have been experiencing, the Town is taking this opportunity to remind residents of the following mandatory outdoor water use restrictions:

  • No Outdoor Watering between the hours of 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM.
  • Sprinkler Systems: Both above ground and installed underground sprinklers may only be used once per week, subject to the above restrictions.
  • Per the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection, the Town will be required to ban sprinklers entirely if this policy is not followed.
  • Other outside water use is restricted to HAND HELD HOSES ONLY.
  • VIOLATION OF THE WATER USE RESTRICTIONS WILL RESULT IN A MINIMUM $50.00 PER DAY FINE
  • This applies to all residents that receive Town water.  The Town has no jurisdiction over private well water.

Please also be aware that the Town could institute a full outdoor watering ban in the future. Please watch for future notices on WCTV and your local newspaper.

The Town thanks residents in advance for their cooperation.
