POLICE LOG for September 1: 7 Speeding Tickets Issued On Glen Road In 30 Minutes; Teens On Market Basket Roof

WILMINGTON, MA  — Here are FOURTEEN highlights from the Wilmington Police Log for Thursday, September 1, 2016:

  • Police issued 7 speeding citations on Glen Road. (8:18am-8:47am)
  • Woburn Street School had a fire drill. (8:47am)
  • North Intermediate School had a fire drill. (8:57am)
  • Angel Luis Castro (27, Wilmington) was issued a summons for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and speeding. Castro was pulled over on Jaques Lane. (9:13am)
  • Wilmington Middle School had a fire drill. (9:22am)
  • West Intermediate School had a fire drill. (9:45am)
  • Police issued 10 speeding citations on Jacques Lane. (9:09am-10:27am)
  • Police received report of a suspicious man on Bay Street walking around drinking beer. Police transported the man home. (2:42pm)
  • A Gandalf Way resident requested assistance with a baby chipmunk in her backyard. Animal Control Officer will leave the animal as is and follow up tomorrow. (3:15pm)
  • Market Basket manager reported 5 juveniles climbed onto the roof of the store. Juveniles later left area, but manager was able to provided pictures. Police eventually located juveniles and notified their parents. Police will follow up with Market Basket to see if they’re interested in pursuing a no trespass order. (3:25pm)
  • Reading Police wanted it logged that their speed alert board was vandalized while parked at Woburn Street and Eames Street between August 22 and September 1. Damage estimated at $4,000. (3:45pm)
  • A walk-in party reported his red 2014 Ford Focus was hit with struck while parked in the Market Basket parking lot. (5:13pm)
  • Fire Department responded to an oven fire on Oak Street. (6:02pm)
  • An Avalon Oaks resident reported a woman yelling in the apartment above her. Police responded. Woman was having a birthday party. Situation checked OK. (7:25pm)
