5 Things To Know About Thursday’s Primary Election In Wilmington

WILMINGTON, MA — The State Primary Election is this Thursday, September 8.  Polls are open from 7am to 8pm.   Per usual, Precincts 1 & 2 vote at the Boutwell; Precincts 3 & 4 vote at the Wildwood; and Precincts 5 & 6 vote at Town Hall.  In case you’re wondering, Boutwell & Wildwood DO have school, but it will be an early release day.

5 Things To Know About Thursday’s Election:

1.) The only contested race on the Democratic ballot is for Middlesex Sheriff.

2.) Interestingly, candidate Barry Kelleher, who is challenging incumbent Peter Koutoujian in the Middlesex Sheriff’s race, is a Wilmington resident.  Kelleher has worked as a corrections officer in the Middlesex Sheriff’s Office for the past 18 years.

3.) There are NO contested races on the Republican ballot.

4.) Angelo LaCivita is waging a write-in campaign to become the Republican nominee for Middlesex Sheriff.  (Otherwise, the winner of the Democratic primary would run unopposed in the general election.)  LaCivitia needs to receive at least 1,000 votes throughout Middlesex County to qualify for November’s ballot.  Learn more about his candidacy HERE.

5.) There are NO candidates on the ballots for the Green-Rainbow Party or United Independent Party.

NOTE: The ballot screen shots used in this post are for voters in Precincts 1, 2, 4, 5 and 6.  Voters in Precinct 3 will see similar ballots, but Democrats will see State Rep. Ken Gordon as a candidate for ‘Representative in General Court’ (not Jim Miceli) while Republicans will see Paul Girouard as a candidate as a ‘Representative in General Court’ (not blank).
