TRAFFIC ADVISORY: Route 38 Bridge Work To Cause Detours In September

WILMINGTON, MA – The Massachusetts Department of Transportation has announced that detours will be in place in Wilmington due to maintenance work on the Route 38 Bridge during two upcoming weekends in September.

Vehicle traffic in the Route 38 bridge area will be detoured from Friday, September 9 at 8pm until Monday, September 12 at 5am. Traffic will be detoured again from Friday, September 23 at 8pm until Monday, September 26 at 5am.

Vehicles traveling northbound on Rte. 38 will be detoured onto Eames St. and then Woburn St. and then Rte. 129.

Vehicles traveling southbound will be detoured onto Rte. 129 and then Woburn St. and then Eames St.

Drivers are urged to use caution and reduce speed while traveling through the area.

While the Route 38 bridge is located above commuter rail trails, the work on the bridge is not expected to impact commuter rail service. The Lowell Line Commuter Rail service is expected to operate as scheduled, but riders may experience minor delays.

Bridge maintenance work will include installing shoring posts and jacking girders.
