POLICE LOG for August 22: Cat Run Over On Purpose?; Coyote Sighting; Fight At Avalon

WILMINGTON, MA  — Here are NINE highlights from the Wilmington Police Log for Monday, August 22, 2016:

  • Police responded to a fight in a parking lot on Avalon Drive. (1:29am)  Police returned after reports of a group arguing. Police advised group to keep it down. (2:33am)
  • A black Ground Master road bike was found abandoned behind the library. Police notified DPW. (8:46am)
  • A North Street caller reported seeing a coyote behind her home. Animal Control Office responded. Animal was gone by the time officer arrived. (9:04am)
  • Site manager of an unspecified Eames Street building reported the building was painted on and the property’s gate sensor was damaged. (10:14am)
  • A Clark Street resident reported a Wilmington man jumped over her fence and picked up her dog.  Police provided resident with paperback to attain a no trespass order. (3:43pm)
  • An Aldrich Road caller reported a deceased very large opossum in front of her mailbox. (6:09pm)
  • A passerby witnessed a red Camaro strike and kill a cat on Fay Street. Caller believed it to be deliberate. Caller had seen a similar vehicle parked on a nearby street. Operator was described as a middle-aged female with short blonde hair. (6:11pm)
  • Police received a report of man walking on the train tracks behind Wilmington House of Pizza. Man was gone upon police arrival. (6:17pm)
  • A Market Street manager called police, concerned over the well-being of an employee. Employee was told to leave because he seemed impaired. Police responded and okayed the employee to drive home. (8:51pm)
