POLICE LOG for August 21: Wilmington Man Arrested; Tree Falls On Van; Kids Behaving Badly

WILMINGTON, MA  — Here are TWELVE highlights from the Wilmington Police Log for Sunday, August 21, 2016:

  • A Shady Lane Drive caller reported three tires on her daughter’s vehicle were slashed overnight. Her daughter found a knife in the area. (6:55am)
  • Melissa C. Hoover (23, Wilmington) was issued a summons for operating a motor vehicle with a revoked registration, driving an uninsured motor vehicle, and speeding. (12:57pm)
  • A Blanchard Road caller reported a red jeep had smoke coming from it and three white males in their 20’s are running away from it.  Police responded.  Vehicle was simply overheating. (2:43pm)
  • Police assisted the Fire Department with a small brush fire near Heavenly Donuts on Main Street. (2:54pm)
  • A tree fell on a minivan on Fairview Avenue. Vehicle was unoccupied at the time. Tree is not blocking roadway and did not make contact with power lines. Police notified DPW. (3:55pm)
  • K9 Ridic underwent training on Fordham Road. (7:04pm)
  • A Shawsheen Avenue caller reported his outdoor rug had been rolled up on Friday and today. He believes it to be juveniles and can see footprints leading to his fence. Caller wanted the incident logged. (7:16pm)
  • A caller reported a grey sedan driving around Wildwood Cemetery slowly, stopping at her father’s site after she left it. Vehicle was gone when police arrived. (7:43pm)
  • A caller reported an unknown female was going through the dumpsters outside Monogram Foods on Ballardvale Street. Woman was gone when police arrived. (7:45pm)
  • A Grace Drive resident reported a silver Volkswagon was driving up and down the street repeatedly. Police responded. Driver was practicing for a driving test. Situation checked OK. (9:48pm)
  • John F. Kelly (58, Wilmington) was arrested on a warrant. (10:31pm)
  • A Wild Avenue caller reported he witnessed several juveniles on bicycles knocking over trash cans in the area. Police checked the area and were unable to locate the kids. (10:31pm)
