WILMINGTON, MA — Here are ELEVEN highlights from the Wilmington Police Log for Monday, August 15, 2016:
- A brown 1999 Toyota Camry and a gray motorcycle were involved in a crash on Woburn Street. No injuries noted. Camry was towed. Police confiscated the motorcycle operator’s backpack at the scene. It contained a large amount of a Class D substance. (6:07am)
- A caller reported a RMLD pole on North Street was damaged overnight. Police confirmed the pole was snapped at the base. RMLD responded. Police issued an unnamed individual a summons for leaving the scene of property damage and speeding. (6:37am)
- A Grant Street resident turned in old ammunition for destruction. (10:27am)
- A Hillcrest Street home surrendered 2 adult cats and 2 kittens to the North Andover/Haverhill Animal Hospital. (11:06am)
- Animal Control Officer responded after reports of a deceased ground hog was in the roadway of Chestnut Street causing a foul odor. (11:32am)
- Police notified the Public Buildings Department of broken class outside the building, near the playground, at the Shawsheen Elementary School. (12:25pm)
- A Park Street resident reported their mailbox was damaged. Police responded and determined the damage was recent, likely done by a Volkswagen. A hubcap belonging to a Volkswagen was found in the area. Police put out a BOLO for a Volkswagen-style vehicle missing a hubcap. (1:06pm) The vehicle was later found and insurance information was exchanged. (5:15pm)
- A Roberts Road caller reported a scam phone call from a Houston, TX number. (3:53pm)
- A Castle Drive caller reported somebody hit his trash barrel and moved it about 20 yards down the street. Caller wanted the incident logged. (9:12pm)
- An intoxicated man was in McDonald’s making workers uncomfortable. Man was described as 6-foot, camo backpack, red shirt and black hat. Police located the man after he left the store and sent him on his way. (10:19pm)
- Police responded to a group of youths skateboarding in the Avalon Oaks parking lot, causing a disturbance. Group agreed to take it inside for the night. (11:10mp)
