WILMINGTON, MA — Here are highlights from the Wilmington Police Log for the week of Sunday, August 7, 2016.
Sunday, August 7:
- Police were out with a party sleeping in their vehicle at Sonny’s Mobil on the Run. Individual was driving from New Hampshire and taking a quick nap prior to completing the ride home. (1am)
- Police received a loud music complaint on Woburn Street. (1:14am)
- A Grove Avenue caller reported he believed hearing voices coming from his neighbor’s garage. Police checked the area and did not locate anybody. (2:21am)
- A Hathaway Road resident called to report his mailbox was damaged overnight. Police responded. It appeared a vehicle struck the mailbox and it was an isolated incident. (6:43am)
- A black wallet was found at Walgreens on Main Street. (8:2oam) Man came to the station to pick it up, but noted there was a fraudulent charge on his credit card and his social security card was missing. (4:39pm)
- A Clyde Avenue resident called to report her small dog was stuck under a dresser and she needed assistance moving it. The dog was able to come out on its own. (10:34am)
- A mother requested a well-being check on her son, who recently left detox and may be under the influence of narcotics. Police checked his home, but no one was home. They put a BOLO out on his vehicle. (10:58am) Police later returned to the home and the man’s wife said he had come to home to retrieve some items and his vehicle. Police told the man’s wife to call the station if he ever needed assistance. (11:49am)
- A wire was reported down across Main Street. Police notified RMLD. A large outage in the area resulted, including at Simards. A detail officer was requested. (12:49pm)
- Fire Department responded to a brush fire behind Metro at Wilmington Station, near the tracks. (12:54pm)
- A man in a red 2005 Ford Focus was harassing customers for money at Cumberland Farms. By the time police arrived, the man was gone. Employees will have the manager seek a no trespass order. (7:05pm)
Monday, August 8:
- Police notified Mass Highway multiple times due to the lights at the intersection of Main Street and Church Street being in blinking mode. (4:28am)
- A Cumberland Farms employee called to report a man in a car in front of the store drinking and throwing empty nips onto the sidewalk. Police responded. Both individuals in the car were trespassed from the store. (6:42am)
- Animal Control Officer assisted the Billerica Animal Control Officer with an injured fox on Riverhurst Street in Billerica. (9:10am)
- Animal Control Officer responded to call of raccoons trapped in a dumpster behind ADA Solutions on Andover Street. Raccoons were sent on their way. (9:34am)
- A caller reported they were bit by an unleashed dog at Lucci Realty Rust. Animal Control Officer gave the dog in question a 10-day quarantine. (9:44am)
- Animal Control Officer responded to a home on Hillcrest Street where 5 pregnant female cats were surrendered and transported to Muddy Creek Animal Hospital in Rowley. (10:33am)
- Owner of a gray 2010 Dodge Journey reported his parked vehicle was struck in the Market Basket parking lot. (1:45pm)
- A Woburn Street resident reported a call from a person asking for donations for “NEOA” on behalf of the Wilmington Police Department. Resident was advised not to give money out and to notify the police if the person comes to her home. (8:13pm)
- Fire Department responded to a dryer fire on Glenview Road. (8:41pm)
Tuesday, August 9:
- An employee from the Milestone Group Home on High Street reported 4 juveniles ran away from the program. Police located 2 of the runaways in the woods on Federal Street and returned them to the home. The 2 other missing juveniles would eventually return to the program. (12:39am)
- A debit card was found in the drive thru at Sonic. (9:37am)
- The Wilmington Board of Health condemned a house on Middlesex Avenue. Police assisted town officials. (9:38am)
- World Courier on West Street reported a terminated employee has been making harassing phone calls to the company and other employees. Police advised the business of the no trespass process. (10:03am)
- Water Department issued a fine over a landscaping company — Emanuel Brothers — connecting to the town’s fire hydrant while working on the lawn near the FedEx building on Industrial Way. (10:31am)
- Wilmington and North Andover Animal Control Officers received 5 kittens which were surrendered from a Hillcrest Street home. Kittens taken to Muddy Creek Animal Care Center in Rowley. (10:42am)
- John R. Tobin (31, Wilmington) was arrested on a warrant of apprehension. (2:26pm)
- Fire Department responded to a brush fire at Winchester Family Medical Center on Salem Street. (2:53pm)
- Police received report of a light brown van driven by an elderly male nearly striking a responding fire truck head on. Van was last seen in the area of Route 62 and Wildwood Street. Police were unable to locate the vehicle. (2:59pm)
- A man reported someone possibly stole the title to his vehicle. (4:22pm)
- A Grand Street resident reported unauthorized use of credit cards. (4:25pm)
- Fire Department responded to a car fire on the 93 North Exit 41 ramp. (5:27pm)
Wednesday, August 10:
- Kellyann M. Wallace (51, Woburn) was arrested for an OUI (Liquor) and Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle. Wallace pulled over near AAA Tire Company on Main Street. (11:06am)
- Animal Control Officer retrieved an injured rabbit from a Biggar Avenue yard. (12:25pm)
- A Main Street resident was contacted from an unknown party stating they were collecting money on behalf of the Wilmington Police. Police advised resident they were not collecting funds via phone. (1:05pm)
- A caller reported concerns over an elderly man with a walker, appearing soaking wet, walking near Lucci’s Supermarket. Police were unable to locate the man. (1:18pm)
- An Aldrich Road caller reported her laptop was stolen. (1:35pm)
- Brian Damelio (39, Wilmington) was issued a summons for assault with a dangerous weapon (baseball bat). (5:02pm)
- K9 Ridic underwent training at the DPW Headquarters on Andover Street. (5:30pm)
- A Beacon Street resident reported two packages that were shipped to her home were stolen before she arrived home. (6:15pm)
- A Wildwood Street caller reported someone was continuously ringing her doorbell, but weren’t identifying themselves through the door. Police checked the property and were unable to locate anyone. (9:20pm)
Thursday, August 11:
- Police restored the peace after a report of an assault on Taft Road. (12:51am)
- Police noticed a vehicle operating on the wrong side of the road on Lowell Street. Driver said he was looking for a place to eat. Situation checked OK. (1:30am)
- A Marion Street resident reported three tires on their Ford pick-up truck were flashed overnight. (7:38am)
- Police received a report of a pitchfork in the road at Aldrich Road and Shawsheen Avenue. Item was already gone by the time police arrived. (7:44am)
- A gray 2002 Kia Sorrenta and a gray 1999 Volkswagen Passat were involved in a minor crash near ReMax on Main Street. (9:32am)
- 3 kittens were surrendered from a Hillcrest Street home. Kitens were taken to the Northshore Animal Center. (10:18am)
- A walk-in party reported being a victim of a fraud scam. (6:13pm)
- A passerby reported that a man at Glen Road and Main Street was stumbling, bleeding from the mouth, and urinating in the middle of the street. Police responded. Man claimed he was assaulted behind Ristuccia Arena by two men. Police located some of the man’s belongings and notified a family member. Lt. Pupa was also notified. (6:43pm)
- A group of youths were yelling and swearing outside of Town Hall. Police sent the kids on their way. (11:51pm)
Friday, August 12:
- Dino Esposito (58, Wilmington) was arrested on a warrant of apprehension and taken to Woburn District Court. (10:18am)
- A caller reported 5 trucks with construction equipment parked in roadway of Burt Road, making it difficult to get around. Police responded and paving company moved a trailer out of the travel lane. (12:40pm)
- A green 1995 Dodge Dakota and a black 2012 Honda Accord were involved in a minor crash at Main Street and Burlington Avenue. (1:21pm)
- Police noticed four individuals loitering near the foot path on Main Street. Police sent them on their way. A backpack was left behind containing one bear, which was brought back to the station for disposal. (4:03pm)
- A blue 2013 Honda Civic and a gray 2013 Mazda 3I were involved in a minor crash at Main Street and Cross Street. (4:34pm)
- A caller reported her car was hit in the parking lot of a Lowell Street business. The other car did not stop. The caller’s front bumper and side light markings were taken out. Police advised caller to contact her insurance company. (5:30pm)
- A caller reported the lock to his locker at Planet Fitness was cut and his wallet was taken. (8:57pm)
Saturday, August 13:
- A Forest Street resident reported his mailbox was knocked over last night. (9:37am) Police noticed another Forest Street mailbox was knocked over. (9:56am)
- A Moore Street resident reported his mailbox was knocked off post and damaged sometime overnight. (10:42am)
- A black 2008 Honda Civic and a red & black motorcycle were involved in a crash near the 93 North Exit 40 ramp. State Police handled the scene. Fire Department responded. Injures unknown. (12:29pm)
- Police noticed a juvenile on the top of the roof of the Snack Shack. Police were told a juvenile wearing a tie-dyed shirt was on the roof and then ran into the woods. Police could not locate the juvenile. No damage was done to the Snack Shack. (3:23pm)
- A motorist reported a man, at Shawsheen Avenue and Carter Lane, jumped in front of his car and, when stopped, was persistently asking for a ride. (4:27pm)
- An anonymous caller reported the owner of the Shell Gas Station on Middlesex Avenue parks vehicles on the sidewalk. Police advised the owner. (4:30pm)
- 2 dogs were spotted walking down the train tracks on Main Street behind Firestone. Police located the dogs owners on Kirk Street and advised them. (4:37pm)
- Fire Department responded to a grill fire on Middlesex Avenue. (6:08pm)
- A walk-in party cleaned out their father’s house and brought in a trash bag full of syringes, medications and hypodermic needles for destruction. (9:16pm)
- Burlington Police reported 3 black individuals were banging on the front door of 1 Park Drive in Woburn, trying to gain entrance. They left in a silver BMW, with New Hampshire license plates, and headed towards Wilmington. Burlington Police stopped the vehicle. The group of individuals were looking for the same address, but in Waltham. Situation was a misunderstanding. (11:01pm)
- A Middlesex Avenue caller reported an unknown man knocked on his door and then attempted to enter. Police responded. The man was a new employee for a group home in town and went to the wrong house. (11:30pm)
