WILMINGTON, MA — The softball field at Wilmington’s Town Park is scheduled to receive major upgrades next month.
The field will receive:
- A new chain link backstop
- New dugout areas and dugout benches
- New softball clay material in the infield
- A leveling of the infield
- New sod in the outfield
The project will begin on September 6. Construction is expected to last two weeks.
“The work will give much needed cosmetic improvements to the field and help restore standard field dimensions which have been lost over time due to excessive infield top dressing,” wrote Town Engineer Paul Alunni.
“[These upgrades] are part of the Town’s ongoing efforts to provide excellent sports and recreation facilities to its citizens,” added Director of Public Works Director Michael Woods.
