WILMINGTON, MA — Last April, Wilmington resident Anthony “Tony” Alonardo passed away. By all accounts, he was a wonderful father & husband, and very active in the community, volunteering with Wilmington Youth Hockey, Wilmington Knights of Columbus, and St. Dorothy’s Parish.
Several of his friends came together last fall to organize a 5K run/walk to remember Tony and to help his family. The event was such a huge success — raising $12,000 — that it’s back for another year.
The 2nd Annual Tony A 5K will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2016. Day-of registration and check-ins begin at 7:30am at the Wilmington Fourth of July Building. The race begins at 9am in front of Wilmington High School. Registration costs $35. The first 100 registrants receive a free race t-shirt. T-shirts will also be available to purchase at the race for $20.
Want to participate in the 5K, either as a runner or walker? Register for the 5K HERE.
Funds raised will help offset college expenses for Tony’s two children — Sara and Michelle — and continue a recently established scholarship fund in Tony and his family’s name.
