About the W.A.A.F.
Established in 2010 to support Wildcat Athletics past and present. The W.A.A.F. provides for the needs of the Wilmington High School athletic programs and encourages interest and participation from our athletic alumni and friends. The needs of the athletic department include athletic equipment, transportation, and awards and recognition that may not necessarily fit within the athletic department’s budget. It is the group’s aim and intent to enhance the high school athletic experience of Wilmington High School’s student-athletes, helping to provide them with the tools to achieve their full potential and properly recognize their achievements. Programs the Wilmington Athletic Alumni and Friends already support include commemorative plaques recognizing Middlesex League championships, and the re-launching of the senior athletic banquet at the end of the school year.
The W.A.A.F. has also been responsible for holding athletic events to generate camaraderie among former Wilmington High School student-athletes and friends. Most recently, the W.A.A.F. sponsored the highly anticipated Alumni Day held Thanksgiving weekend. Their largest event yearly is the 100 Hungry Wildcats, the main fundraiser to raise funds for the W.A.A.F.’s donations and memorabilia for high school athletes. If you would like more information about the W.A.A.F, please visit their Facebook page or email whsathleticalumni@gmail.com.
