POLICE LOG for August 6: 10 Street Signs Vandalized; Strange Animal Calls; Pokemon Go

WILMINGTON, MA  — Here are TWENTY highlights from the Wilmington Police Log for Saturday, August 6, 2016:

  • Police investigated individuals in the parking lot of Sweet Pizza on Ballardvale Street. Individuals were playing Pokemon Go. Police sent them on their way. (1:30am)
  • Police investigated individuals in the parking lot of Town Hall. Individuals were playing Pokemon Go. Building checked secure. (2:18am)
  • Fire Department respond to a fire on Bond Street. (2:43am)
  • A Cedar Street contacted police to let them know he took into an injured baby rabbit. Police gave him the number of Wilmington Wild Things. (3:52am)
  • Police noted vandalism on Forest Street, Taft Street and Swain Road, with multiple street signs, mailboxes and a for sale sign knocked over and/or smashed. (5:07am)
  • A Cary Street caller reported a step ladder was moved up against his house and a bench was turned over. Police responded. (6:59am)
  • The street sign at Houghton Road and Kendall Street was reported twisted and bent. (8:32am)
  • A Burlington Avenue resident reported their mailbox was damaged overnight. A nearby Wasbash Road mailbox was reported missing. (10:27am)
  • A walk-in party turned in an air soft riffle for destruction. (11:39am)
  • The Polk Road street sign was knocked over and stolen sometime overnight. (12:19pm)
  • The Walnut Street street sign was knocked over and taken overnight. (12:20pm)
  • The Mather Street street sign was knocked over and taken overnight. (12:21pm)
  • A Lincoln Avenue caller requested advice from the Animal Control Officer regarding a deceased skunk in her swimming pool. (12:45pm)
  • Callers reported an injured goose in the Target parking lot. Police gave them the number for the Environmental Police. (12:41pm)
  • A crash occurred between a gray 2015 Toyota Rav 4 and a brown 2004 Jeep Wrangler in the CVS parking lot. One vehicle towed. An airbag deployed, but the driver refused medical attention. A citation was issued for failure to yield for an oncoming vehicle. (2:42pm)
  • Police told an individual looking at the construction of the new park on Cross Street to stay out of the construction area. Police sent him on his way. (5:17pm)
  • Police were out with a large group of people in the wooded area between Ristuccia Arena and C&J Lawnmower. Police advised them not to be in the area and sent them on their way. (9:21pm)
  • Police received a loud party complaint on Gunderson Road. (10:41pm)
  • A Fairmont Avenue resident reported his house was just egged. Rotten bananas were also thrown. (10:45pm)
  • Police noted the street sign for Pilling Road was missing. (10:55pm)
