Miceli Secures $400,000 For Future Residential Drug Treatment Center In Tewksbury/Wilmington Area

BOSTON, MA — In the sprint to the finish of the Massachusetts House of Representatives’ final sessions, Representative James Miceli was joined by his colleagues in unanimously passing H.4569, commonly known as the Economic Development Bill. After passing so strongly in the House, the Senate also approved the bill with only one senator voting against the legislation that will have an incredibly positive impact on the Commonwealth’s workforce development and job creation efforts.

Early in the legislative process, Representative Miceli filed an amendment to the Economic Development Bill which allocates $200,000 for Into Action Recovery, Inc, “for the purchase and renovation of an opiate recovery treatment facility.” With the $200,000 that was also allocated in the MA general budget due to Representative Miceli’s advocacy and work on the House Ways and Means Committee, Into Action Recovery will receive a total of $400,000 in state funding for Fiscal Year 2017.

“I have seen first-hand the amazing work and progress that Into Action Recovery accomplishes on a daily basis, and I am very proud to supporting their efforts,” said Representative Miceli. “Because of their work, I see a very bright future ahead for our district and the Commonwealth as a whole, I have seen this organization grow substantially, and I’m happy to support their work in any way that I can.”

Immediately following its approval by both branches of the legislature, the bill was laid upon Governor Charlie Baker’s desk where it remained for over a week. After reviewing the bill for this lengthy period of time and receiving great pressure from both branches of the legislature, Governor Baker signed the bill into law at the base of the steps of the grand staircase of the Statehouse on Wednesday, August 10^th.
