WILMINGTON, MA — Starting the week of Monday, August 22, the Department of Public Works (Water Division) will begin upgrading the water main on Strout Avenue from the area of house #10 to the dead end of the road. As part of the upgrade, the existing 2” iron pipe will be replaced with 8” ductile iron. In addition to upgrading the water main, the Water Division will take the opportunity to add an additional fire hydrant in the area.
Work will begin at approximately 8:00 AM. The DPW will try and limit disrupting egress as much as possible. Please do not park any vehicles on the road during construction. Please feel free to talk to the DPW crew directly or call the DPW office if you have a question. They will try to accommodate and assist you as much as possible.
The DPW anticipates completing the water main installation in approximately 2-3 weeks and will begin transferring individual water services to the new main approximately 1 week later.
During this project, Strout Avenue residents may temporarily experience discolored water and/or low water pressure.
Strout Avenue residents will be notified by Water Division personnel if their water service will be temporarily interrupted. Since difficulties can occur and water service could be unexpectedly disrupted, the DPW suggest Strout Avenue residents keep a gallon of water in the refrigerator.
For questions or concerns, please feel free to contact the Water Division at 978-658-4711.
