Wilmington 8-Year-Old Jace Murphy Could Use Your Help, Fundraiser Announced

WILMINGTON, MA — Please join 8-year-old Jace Murphy and his family at the Wilmington Farmers Market at the Town Common on Sunday, August 28, from 10am to 1pm, for a fun and exciting Cornhole Tournament.

Jace was born with a rare genetic disorder known as Treacher Collins Syndrome.  The syndrome affects the way the face develops, including the cheekbones, jaws, eyelids, and ears. These differences can cause difficulties with breathing, swallowing, hearing, chewing and talking.

Funds raised from the Cornhole Tournament will contribute to the ongoing medical expenses for Jace’s surgeries and procedures.

The Cornhole Tournament will be open to all teams and players on a space-available basis. There is room for up to 30 teams. This will be a double-elimination tournament with cash prizes for the top 3 winning teams. Prize amounts will be announced prior to the tournament commencing, as it is directly linked to the number of players. All initial seedings will be at random.

A team will consist of 2 players. If a player does not have a partner, and would like to be paired up with another player, please register as a “Solo Player.” Teams can be mixed gender or single gender. No minimum age. To view the rules the games will be governed by, please visit the American Cornhole Association.

The tournament costs $25 per person to enter, of which $20 goes directly to the charity. Payments must be made in cash or by check payable to “Jace Murphy Trust” the morning of the tournament. Teams and individuals will be required to check in between 9:45amand 10:15am. Walk-up registrations will also be accepted as long as space is available. The tournament will begin precisely at 10:30am.
