WILMINGTON, MA — Here are FOURTEEN highlights from the Wilmington Police Log for Thursday, July 28, 2016:
- Animal Control Officer retrieved a lost parakeet from Benevento Sand & Stone on Salem Street. The bird’s photo was shared on social media. (8:30am)
- Fire Department responded to a mulch fire on Sudbury Avenue. (11:35am)
- A resident located an abandoned red bike on the trail behind Town Hall. Police notified DPW to retrieve. (11:48am)
- A tree on Glen Road was caught on an upper wire with a branch appearing cracked. Police notified RMLD. (2:54pm)
- State Police handled a 2-vehicle crash on Route 93 North near Exit 40. Wilmington Fire transported one occupant with an injury to Lahey Clinic. (3:25pm)
- A trash barrel was reported stolen from a Middlesex Avenue property. (3:53pm)
- The Public Buildings Department called the Animal Control Officer over an “out-of-control” squirrel. (4:36pm)
- Police received a report of youths on the overpass on West Street throwing rocks onto 93. Police were unable to locate. (4:50pm)
- A caller reported 3 males were playing basketball in the gazebo on the Town Common. Police responded and moved the parties along. (6:23pm)
- Police spoke with a party driving a dirtbike in the roadway on Walnut Street. (6:28pm)
- Police received a report of a possible homeless woman sitting on the floor of the ATM at Bank of America on Main Street. Police responded. Woman left the property and will be heading to the train station to leave Wilmington. (7:10pm)
- A Glen Road resident reported a bicycle was abandoned in her yard sometime today. Police notified DPW. (7:31pm)
- A Lockwood Road caller reported two people were walking around a house with flashlights. Police responded. The two individuals were from a dog watch program and were assisting a resident on Lockwood Road with trying to find her missing dog. Volunteers will be in the neighborhood throughout the night. (10:20pm)
- A Roosevelt Road resident reported a man was behind his house slashing tires. When the resident started to chase the man over to Taft Road, the man pulled a knife on the resident and told him to leave. Police responded and arrested Joshua Aaron Himmel (26, Billerica) for assault with a dangerous weapon and malicious destruction of property over $250. (10:54pm)
