WOBURN, MA – The Middlesex District Attorney announced on Tuesday a grand jury indictment has been handed down for Kassan Germain for his role in the wild Wilmington manhunt late last year.
Kassan Germain, 25, of Woburn, has been charged with possession of cocaine, carrying a firearm without a license, carrying a loaded firearm, and being an armed career criminal.
According to Wilmington Police, on Wednesday November 18, 2015, at approximately 8pm, the Wilmington Police Department responded to the Market Basket parking lot after a report of two males in a motor vehicle possibly smoking marijuana.
A Wilmington Police Officer arrived on scene and when he confronted the individuals, both male parties became evasive and one of the parties set something on the wheel well of a motor vehicle parked in the area. When the Officer observed that item to be a firearm, both parties fled the scene on foot.
After a foot pursuit and lengthy search by Officer from multiple local agencies, the Middlesex Sheriff’s Department and the Massachusetts State Police, Ahmauri Menard was located near Pine Street and Main Street by Wilmington K-9 Unit Officer Palmer and Ridic at approximately 11:50PM.
Ahmauri Menard age 20 of 77A Bolton Street Cambridge was arrested and charged with:
- Carrying a firearm without a license
- Disorderly Conduct
- Resisting Arrest
- Furnishing False Name and Social Security Number Following Arrest
- Receiving Stolen Motor Vehicle
- 5 Default Warrants
Ahmauri Menard was arraigned at Woburn District Court on November 19, 2015.
After an investigation, arrest warrants were obtained for Kassan Germain, age 24, of 59R Water Street Woburn, MA for:
- Carrying a Firearm without a license
- Receiving Stolen Motor Vehicle
- Resisting Arrest
On Friday November 20, 2015 at approximately 9:30pm, detectives from the Wilmington Police Department and detectives from the Woburn Police Narcotics Unit arrested Kassan Germain in the vicinity of 59R Water Street Woburn, Massachusetts near Horn Pond. Germain will be arraigned at Woburn District Court on November 23rd.
The Assistant District Attorney handling the Germain case is Craig Estes.
The charges against Geramin are allegations and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
