WILMINGTON, MA — Below are TEN things that happened at last Monday’s Wilmington Board of Selectmen Meeting:
#1) The Board of Selectmen unanimously granted the request of the Wilmington Sons of Italy and WHS Band Parents to use the Town Common parking lot to hold their 4th Annual Yard Sale on Saturday, September 10, from 8am to 3pm.

#4) The Board of Selectmen unanimously granted the request to appoint Robert Iantosca as a public weigher for the Town of Wilmington. Town Manager Hull explained that a public weigher records the weight of certain commodities in that are being shipped from or purchased in Wilmington. The State oversees the town’s weighers and can request to review their records.
#5) Per the recommendation of Planning Director Valerie Gingrich, the Board of Selectmen unanimously agreed to execute a conservation restriction for the new Murray Hill Estates. The town’s zoning bylaw requires a 30 foot buffer strip (non-distubred vegetation) between wetlands and a single family lot. There will be five single family lots as part of the Eleanor Drive extension.
#6) Per the recommendation of Planning Director Valerie Gingrich, the Board of Selectmen unanimously adopted the town’s 2015 Hazard Mitigation Plan Update. The 144-page plan can be read HERE.
#7) Selectmen received a letter from resident Paul J. Brozo, requesting to be appointed to the vacant Board of Appeals position. Selectmen have added Brozo to the list of candidates that will be interviewed by the Selectmen at a special meeting on Monday, July 25 at 7pm at Town Hall. Candidates include: Mark Nelson, Richard Hupper, Conor LaHiff, Francis Oliveri, Raymond Lepore, Jennifer Santini, Robert Lopez and Paul Brozo.
#8) Selectman Mike Champoux praised the town’s new website, noting it is now mobile-friendly, improves the customer (or resident) experience; and (3) allows each town department to more easily update their own content. Read more about the new website HERE. Visit it HERE.
#9) Selectman Kevin Caira and Selectman Greg Bendel praised the Fourth of July Committee, public safety officials and the town for a successful Fun on the Fourth celebration. “The event went over fantastically well,” noted Caira. “It was an awesome an event,” added Bendel. “I’m grateful it turned out the way it did.”
#10) Town Manager Jeff Hull took a few moments at the end of the meeting to thank the Wilmington Police Department for their service to the community. “I just want to take this opportunity to really acknowledge the work that our Police Department does — day in and day out, 24/7, whether it’s 3am or 3pm. It often goes unheralded.” Hull added that”it is more important now than ever that [we] make sure our officers are as safe as they can be,” noting Chief Begonis has some new safety training in the works for his officers.
