POLICE LOG for July 15: Stolen Dump Truck Leads To Arrest; Pokemon Go Complaint

WILMINGTON, MA  — Here are SEVEN highlights from the Wilmington Police Log for Friday, July 15, 2016:

  • 2 vehicles were involved in a crash on Chestnut Street.  No injuries reported. Both vehicles towed. One driver was cited for impeded operation, marked lane violation, and speed.  Tow truck struck a pole. Police notified Verizon to check for damage. (8:19am)
  • An Aldrich Road resident reported that yesterday, two juveniles were walking around her property, playing Pokemon Go. Police told her to call back if juveniles returned so officers could speak with them. (12:23pm)
  • Woburn Police Department requested a check of a Hunt Road address for a stolen dump truck. Suspect also had an outstanding warrant.  Police visited the home and subsequently arrested John P. O’Connell on the warrant.  The missing dump truck, however, was not at the residence. (12:49pm)
  • An Evergreen Drive resident visited the station to report that she received a fraudulent tuition check. (4:49pm)
  • Police received three calls reporting a red Ferrari speeding up and down Federal Street. Police responded and issued a speeding citation. (4:55pm)
  • Police officer noticed a considerable amount of trash in the Savers parking lot blowing into surrounding neighborhoods. Police notified DPW. (6:08pm)
  • George Mburu Kamau (34, Dracut) was issued a summons for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and a failure to yield at an intersection. (7:13pm)
