WILMINGTON, MA — Here are ELEVEN highlights from the Wilmington Police Log for Friday, July 8, 2016:
- Matthew Maravelis (25, Wilmington) was placed in protective custody for an expired registration. (1:05am)
- A white 2011 Mitsubishi Outlander on Horseshoe Lane was broken into overnight. Vehicle window was smashed. Owner was unsure if anything was taken. Police responded. (6:15am)
- A Recreation Department employee requested an officer to advice a group of youths causing a disturbance who weren’t part of the Tiny Tots/Kids Club summer programs to leave the Shawsheen School area. Police advised the youths in the skate park to stay away from the program. (10:59am)
- A hit and run between two vehicles occurred in the Savers parking lot. (11:54am)
- Kyle Sanville (22, Wilmington) was arrested on outstanding warrants. (1:14pm)
- A walk-in party reported finding a Mongoose bicycle in the woods off of Stone Street. Party brought bike to the station. (2:47pm)
- Police and Fire responded to an accidental lockout involving a toddler locked in an apartment on Avalon Oaks. Access was gained. (6:52pm)
- Police received complaint of a dog left in a car with its windows up at Tremezzo Ristorante. Police spoke with the car’s owner, who was just leaving. (7:21pm)
- A caller reported a Volkswagen parked near the Learning Experience on Main Street with a suspicious male who is being inappropriately rough with dogs in his car. Police spoke with the man, who said he’ll finish his meal and move on. (6:23pm)
- Police received another call of a dog chained to the bumper of a parked Volkswagen in the McDonald’s parking lot. Police responded. Dog checked OK. Police spoke with restaurant manager, who informed them of past incidents with the dog and its owner. Police asked her to notify the station if such incidents occur again. (7:40pm)
- A caller later reported that two individuals were kicking a dog in the parking lot of McDonald’s. Witnesses said the dog’s owner took off with the dog on foot towards Ristuccia Arena. Dog owner was issued a no trespass order from McDonald’s. (9:22pm)
