POLICE LOG for July 3: 10 Kittens Abandoned; Needle Found; Party Complaints

WILMINGTON, MA  — Here are NINE highlights from the Wilmington Police Log for Sunday, July 3, 2016:

  • Police received complaint of a loud outdoor house party on Glen Road. Police spoke with owner, who agreed to take party inside for the evening. (12:20am)
  • Police received multiple reports a loud party on Middlesex Avenue. Police advised owner to quiet the party down. (12:36am)
  • Police received a report that a dog was chasing cars, causing a traffic hazard on Upton Drive. Caller then informed the police that the dog was retrieved by its owner. (8:38am)
  • A hypodermic needle was found on the side of the road on Phillips Avenue. Police retrieved the item. (2:28pm)
  • Fire Department responded to an oven fire on Wildwood Street. (4:22pm)
  • An anonymous caller reported an illegal apartment on Aldrich Road. Police notified the Board of Health of the allegation. (8:14pm)
  • Police received a report of people lighting off fireworks on Sachem Circle. Police responded, but could not locate any fireworks. (9:45pm)
  • A caller reported it appeared someone dumped approximately 10-15 kittens in the roadway on Canal Street. Police confirmed the presence of the kittens.  Animal Control Officer responded, but was unable to catch them. He will follow up tomorrow morning. (10:30pm) [UPDATE: Animal Control Officer has noted that the kittens were feral and were likely going to or from a house in the area that feeds feral cats. (7/9, 11am)]
  • During a traffic stop in front of Rocco’s Restaurant on Main Street, police confiscated a small amount of a Class D drug and brought it back to the station for destruction. (11:04pm)
