WILMINGTON, MA — Here are highlights from the Wilmington Police Log for the week of Sunday, June 19, 2016.
Sunday, June 19:
- A caller reported a group of juveniles were walking in the middle of the road on Lowell Street. Group was gone by the time police arrived. (12:29am)
- A brown 2015 Jeep Renegade and a brown 2004 Hyundai Elantra were involved in a minor crash at Dunkin Donuts on Main Street. (8:54am)
- Police noticed a vehicle parked up on the grass near the entrance to the train to the Town Park. Police asked trail walker to move the vehicle. (9:47am)
- A Border Avenue caller reported two quads were riding up and down the street. Police were unable to locate the quads. (1:23pm)
- A red 2011 Avalon Toyota and a black 2004 BMW were involved in a crash at Grace Chapel on West Street. Unspecified injuries. Airbags deployed. Both vehicles towed. One driver received a citation for failure to stop at a stop sign. (2:10pm)
- An Aldrich Road resident reported at approximately 10pm last night, an unknown man knocked on his basement door in the rear of his house. The man was approximately 6 ft. tall, white, short facial hart, in his 20’s. When asked what he wanted, he stated “I must have the wrong house” and left. Caller wanted the incident logged. (4:23pm)
- A resident reported a dirt bike was speeding around Nichols Street. Police responded, but dirt bike was already gone. (7:28pm)
Monday, June 20:
- A caller reported someone threw a brick through their brown 2012 Chevy Malibu on Main Street. (1:53am)
- Animal Control Officer retrieved a deceased beaver at Everett Avenue & Faulkner Avenue. (12:21pm)
- A Shawsheen Avenue caller reported receiving a IRS scam call. (1:08pm)
- A walk-in party alleged that at approximately 9:45pm last night, the operator of a passing vehicle (possibly a black jeep) threw something out their window, which hit and smashed his rear window. (3:24pm)
- A party who is moving in on Eleanor Drive stated she was two bobcats in the area. One appeared to be limping. (6:05pm)
- Fire Department responded to a brush fire at Town Hall. (6:28pm)
- A caller reported a woman in all black was walking down Boutwell Street. She appeared unsteady and like she might fall. Police responded and gave woman a ride home. (8:05pm)
- A resident called to report a motorcycle racing and doing wheelies between the Lubrizol Advanced Materials parking lot and the Textron parking lot on Lowell Street. Police checked the lots and were unable to locate. (11:34pm)
- 2 juveniles were reporting missing after walking away from the Milestone Group Home on Main Street. (11:36pm)
Tuesday, June 21:
- Fire Department responded to a car fire in the driveway at 92 Nichols Street. (12:28am)
- Fire Department responded to a brush fire on Grove Avenue. (7:24am)
- A caller reported striking a deer in the area of Woburn Street and Concord Street. A second caller reported a “dead” deer on her lawn. When police arrived, deer got up and ran into the swamp behind the caller’s house. Caller was advised to call police if deer returns. (12:25pm)
- A Grove Avenue resident reported a red mongoose bike appears to have been hidden in her bushes. She doesn’t know for how long. Police ran the serial number with no hits. Police notified DPW to remove. (12:35pm)
- Clerk at Card Smart in the Wilmington Plaza called to report two white teen boys stole some items from the store. 1 boy was wearing a black t-shirt and 1 boy was wearing a white t-shirt. Both had backpacks. Police responded. Store’s security video was not immediately available to view. Store wishes to file a trespass order if able to identify boys. A USB charger cable, valued at $20 or less, was taken. (2:23pm)
- A dog was struck by a vehicle on Federal Street. Animal Control Officer took the dog to the Best Friends Animal Hospital. (2:26pm)
- An individual flagged down a police officer on Clark Street. Officer told a juvenile was walking nearby with a possible airsoft rifle. Police spoke with the juvenile and located a BB gun. (3:57pm)
- A lifeguard at Town Beach reported two individuals were riding their bikes around the lake from the Main Street side. Police advised the riders and sent them on their way. (4:11pm)
- Michelle D. McGarry (49, Tyngsboro) was issued a summons for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license. (8:12pm)
Wednesday, June 22:
- A red 2005 Nissan Altima struck a pole on Lowell Street near Sonny’s Mobil on the Run. Left turn only lane sign was struck. Airbag deployed. No injuries. State Highway Police notified. Vehicle towed. (2:20am)
- Tewksbury Police reported a white school bus van was heading south of Route 38, having struck several curbs and mailboxes. Wilmington Police could not locate. (7:47am)
- Animal Control Officer responded to an injured skunk behind a shed on Blackstone Street. Officer was unable to get to the skunk. (9:52am)
- Animal Control Officer responded to a Marcia Road caller who videotaped a red fox in the area. Fox appeared to be sick and missing hair. (10:48am)
- A hit and run between a 2011 Hyundai Sonata and a red 2005 Ford Taurus was reported near the Salvation Army on Main Street. (11:59am)
- A Dartmouth Avenue resident reported several pieces of jewelry missing from her residence. (2:59pm)
- A caller reported that her 12 year-old daughter playing at the Woburn Street school was being harassed by two high school-aged youths on the playground. Youths were believed to be from the Milestone Group Home. (5:12pm) Police later visited the Home. (5:33pm)
- A Wildwood Street resident reported receiving an IRS scam call. (5:55pm)
- Tammy Marie De La Cruz (46, Lynn) was arrested on a warrant for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended registration. Her blue 1999 Ford Explorer was pulled over on Main Street. (6:41pm)
- A caller reported a coyote was in the Adams Street area. (7:34pm)
- A Kilmarnock Street caller reported seeing a rabbit with an arrow in its back. Rabbit was in their backyard, but ran back into the woods. (9:13pm)
- A Kenwood Avenue resident reported her home was egged within the past hour. (11:32pm)
Thursday, June 23:
- Olympio Ravelo (36, Somerville) and Christopher Feliz (34, Quincy) were placed in protective custody by police. The vehicle they were traveling in was towed from AFGA on Ballardvale Street. (12:52am)
- An injured baby skunk was removed from Blackstone Street and will be taken to a rehab. (8:20am)
- A caller reported they locked their two year-old in their vehicle. Onstar was able to unlock the vehicle remotely. (11:13am)
- An ex-employee of ‘Art of the Event’ on Middlesex Avenue made threats he was “going to shoot up the place.” Police traced ex-employee’s cell phone. Police put out a BOLO for the suspect. Police arrested Kyle L. Johns (33, Medford) for making a bomb/hijack threat with serious public alarm. Johns was pulled over in his 1998 Honda Civic on Concord Street at the 93 overpass. (4:34pm)
- 2 bikes were reported stolen from a Faneuil Drive backyard. A Blanchard Road caller later found a bike. Police retrieved found bike, which did belong to the Fanueil Drive caller. Someone had tried to paint over the bike’s labels. (4:35pm)
Friday, June 24:
- Police brought an unattended bicycle near Town Hall back to the station. (1:04am)
- Police sent two men sitting in chairs outside of Market Basket on their way. (5:22am)
- A gray 2008 Toyota Tacoma and a black 2012 Volkswagen Jetta were involved in a crash at Main Street and Clark Street. No injuries reported. (1:25pm)
- Angel Malave (50, Lawrence) was arrested for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and on other warrants. His BMW was pulled over on Route 62. (2:18pm)
- Leo Kelley (26, Lexington) was arrested on warrants for operating a motor vehicle without a license and having an unregistered motor vehicle. Her Kia Optima was pulled over on Lowell Street. (2:36pm)
- A white 1996 Toyota Camry struck a fence on Lake Street. (3:52pm)
- Police notified Mass Highway Department over a loose manhole in front of Wilmington House of Pizza. (4:18pm)
- A Dunkin Donuts employee reported a group of juveniles were causing a disturbance and refusing to leave. Police spoke with the group. (5:10pm)
- A Shawsheen Avenue resident reported driver of a red jeep threw an empty Vodka bottle on his front lawn and continued on towards the Shawsheen School. Police were unable to locate. (6:42pm)
- During a routine check of the Wildwood Cemetery, police found a woman with a green 2010 Kia Soul parked by the dumpster, near the garage, going through the trash for flowers. She was advised. (7:46pm)
- A juvenile was reported missing from the Milestone Group Home on High Street. (11:06pm)
- A caller reported smelling marijuana from a loud party on Glendale Circle. Police responded, but found the situation clear. (11:46pm)
Saturday, June 25:
- An anonymous caller reported an American flag was in the road near Elia’s on Middlesex Avenue. Police responded. No flag was in the roadway. It was a piece of red, white and blue cardboard. (12:08am)
- Animal Control Officer removed a deceased brown cat from the train tracks on Main Street. (11:14am)
- Police received a report of a wire down on the Town Common, near the Fourth of July Building. Police notified Verizon. (11:34am)
- Police received a report that the street sign for Lloyd Road was laying on the ground. Police notified DPW. (3:39pm)
- A Dayton Road caller reported a neighbor took a basketball hoop off of her property and is refusing to give it back. Police spoke with ex-husband of neighbor whose child took the hoop. Child returned hoop to caller’s property. (4:52pm)
- 2 syringes and a spoon were found under bushes in front of Market Basket on Main Street. Police retrieved the items and brought them back to the station for destruction. (5:17pm)
- A red 2007 Subaru Impreza and a black 2014 motorcycle were involved in a crash near Chili’s on Main Street. Motorcycle operator was transported to Winchester Hospital by Fire Department. (6:02pm)
- A Carter Lane resident called to ask advice on how to keep her outdoor cat safe from coyotes she’s seen in her yard. Animal Control Officer to follow-up. (7:43pm)
- A vehicle struck a tree near the 93 North Exit 40 ramp. State Police handled the scene. Wilmington Fire Department transported two individuals to Winchester Hospital. (7:45pm)
