WILMINGTON, MA — At a special meeting on Monday, June 27th, the Wilmington School Committee, at the recommendation of Superintendent Mary DeLai, appointed Mr. Sean T. Gallagher as the next Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Staff Development for Wilmington Public Schools.

Mr. Gallagher has been the Principal of Beverly High School in Beverly, Massachusetts for the last ten years. Under his leadership, Beverly High School has been recognized for many notable accomplishments including being named a national Breaking Ranks Showcase School in 2013 by the National Association of Secondary School Principals and implementation of a number of innovative programs including one of the state’s exemplary 1:1 Laptop Programs, as well as a successful Freshman Academy, Student Exchange Program, and a Senior Internship Program.

Mr. Gallagher began his career as an elementary health educator in the Everett Public Schools before becoming a special education teacher at Lynn Alternative High School. He went on to become a health educator for Salem Public Schools for five years before assuming the role of Dean of Students and Athletic Director in Salem. He left Salem to become Assistant Principal at Beverly High School in 2005 before ascending to the Principal role in 2006.

“We are thrilled to have Sean join our team,” stated Superintendent DeLai. “His experience with leading innovation in teaching and learning, his focus on lifelong learning for both students and staff, and his commitment to helping all students succeed are assets that we as a district value greatly.”
