POLICE LOG for June 18: Summons Issued In Main St. Crash That Led To A Medflight

WILMINGTON, MA  — Here are FIVE highlights from the Wilmington Police Log for Saturday, June 18, 2016:

  • Train gates have been down on Middlesex Avenue causing traffic issues. Police notified Amtrak, which was having an issue with a train on the tracks. Police spoke with conductor who stated they needed to wait further for a supervisor. Police remained on scene to assist with traffic until issues was eventually resolved. (7:39am)
  • A gray 2005 Toyota Camry and 3 motorcycles were involved in a crash near UHaul on Main Street. Main Street was shut down.  State Police reconstruction team was notified. 1 motorcycle rider was transported by medflight to Tufts Medical Center. Car and at least 2 motorcycles were towed. The Camry driver — Maurice Kaplan (67,Woburn) — was issued a summons for the negligent operation of a motor vehicle for failure to keep right. (11:53am)

  • A caller reported a woman in her 50’s was begging for money on Main Street. Police located the woman in front of Starbucks. Woman was getting back on the bus and leaving the area. (12:49pm)
  • Police investigated suspicious behavior in the Target parking lot on Ballardvale Street. Police suspected two vehicles engaged in drug activity, but was unable to confirm. Vehicles were sent on their way. (8:42pm)
  • A Camry struck and killed a dog on Carter Lane. Police altered the owner, who identified the deceased pet and took its remains. (10:19pm)
