POLICE LOG for June 9: OUI Arrest; AC Stolen From Market Basket

WILMINGTON, MA  — Here are TWELVE highlights from the Wilmington Police Log for Thursday, June 9, 2016:

  • A caller reported he was assaulted by a Vertivi co-worker inside their building on Main Street. Caller requested to speak to an officer. Officer responded. Caller did not want to take any action at this time. He wanted to speak with his union rep and company HR for filing a police report. (1:25am)
  • A dump truck and a gray 2007 Toyota Avalon were involved in a crash on Middlesex Avenue. Operator of the dump truck was given a red light violation citation. (8:23am)
  •  A deer was struck by a vehicle on Route 125, prior to Andover Street. Mass Highway was notified. (11:02am)
  • Police received report of an older male wearing boxer shorts, a blue t-shirt and foam slippers walking on Route 125. Police were unable to locate. (11:58am)
  • A caller reported several men went into a shed on Fairmeadow Road with duffle bags. Caller doesn’t believe they belong there.  Police responded. Situation checked OK. Men were friends of the homeowner, who was home. (1:22pm)
  • Wei Cheng (27, Norwood) was issued a summons for failing to stop/yield and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. (2:12pm)
  • A walk-in party reported a terminated employee at C&J Lawnmower on Main Street has been sending threatening messages to other employees. (2:51pm)
  • Edson Bitencourt (41, Middleton) was arrested for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license (subsequent offense); failure to stop/yield; and registration not in possession. Bitencourt was pulled over on Salem Street. (5:06pm)
  • A Red Heat Tavern employee reported a suspicious man in a car for an extended period of time in their parking lot, possibly consuming alcohol. When approached, the vehicle moved to the Burger King parking lot. Police responded. Driver was using the restaurant’s Wifi. Police advised him against loitering. (5:41pm)
  • Fire Department responded to a mulch fire on Horseshoe Lane. (7:18pm)
  • Market Basket Assistant Store Manager reported the theft of an air conditioner unit. Manager requested an officer to review the footage. (8:18pm)
  • Ryan Gordon (28, Tewksbury) was arrested for an OUI (Liquor); negligent operation of a motor vehicle; failure to stop/yield; marked lanes violation; and unregistered motor vehicle. Gordon was arrested at Cypress Street and Glen Road. (10:39pm)
