POLICE LOG for June 8: Speeding Vehicle Nearly Strikes Pedestrians; Car Stolen

WILMINGTON, MA  — Here are SEVEN highlights from the Wilmington Police Log for Wednesday, June 8, 2016:

  • Police received report of an erratic operator  in a green pickup truck on 93 South.  Truck was “all over lanes of travel” and drove onto a dirt area, then got off at Exit 41 and proceeded to strike a curb and a vehicle. State Police was notified.  Wilmington Police located the vehicle at 200 Ballardvale Street and turned over to State Police. (8:10am)
  • A walk-in party reported a larceny from the Wildwood Cemetery. (9:40am)
  • Police received report of a dog in a crate covered by a fleece blanket, barking in a vehicle for the past 49 minutes. Animal Control Officer spoke with vehicle’s owners. Dog checked OK. (12:01pm)
  • A caller reported a white Malibu took a turn on Shady Lane Drive doing approximately 60 MPH and fishtailed, almost striking a mother and son walking. Caller yelled at vehicle, which then turned around and allegedly tried to strike him. Vehicle last seen heading towards Middlesex Avenue. Police were unable to locate. (3:00pm)
  • A green 2002 Toyota Camry and a gray 2010 Volvo 4D were involved in a minor crash at Main Street and Cross Street. One driver was given a written warning for texting while driving. (5:46pm)
  • A juvenile was reported missing from Milestone Group Home on High Street. (7:31pm)
  • Police received report of a blue 2003 Volkswagen Golf stolen from the parking lot of Sonny’s Mobile on the Run on Lowell Street. Police eventually recovered the vehicle in Burlington Storage Unit on West Street.  (8:10pm)
