Ready To Relay? Last Call To Join This Year’s Fight Against Cancer On June 17-18

WILMINGTON – If you or someone you know has cancer, there is an opportunity to join others in a gathering of hope and support. Relay For Life of Wilmington will be holding their 2016 event on June 17 at 5:30 PM at the Wilmington High School.

The public is invited to join in as we celebrate, remember and fight back. It’s a family fun-filled night with a carnival-like festive atmosphere. It is not an athletic event. There’s food, fun, and entertainment for all ages.

Teams arrive at 3 PM and then the fun begins at 4 PM with the opening of the Fun Zone. This popular children’s area has a bouncy house, face painting, ring toss, photo fun and more. Also at that time, the Marketplace is open featuring raffle baskets and other merchandise. The committee feels very lucky and grateful that once again Two Cousins Karaoke and DJ Services provides the entertainment beginning at 5 PM.

At 5:30 PM there is the traditional opening ceremony and survivor tribute including the opening lap around the track. Themes are used throughout the event to make the laps walks fun and quite entertaining.

Dance performances by Wilmington Dance Academy and the award winning Boston Burger Company food truck are just two of the many other fun parts of this year’s event. And at 9 PM there will be the Luminaria Ceremony, a very poignant and important part of the night.
