OBITUARY: Robert L. Chase, 72

LOWELL, MA — Robert L. Chase, age 72, beloved husband of Ellen (Drummey) Chase, died unexpectedly Friday, June 3, 2016, at their home after many years of coping with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD).

He was born in Malden, MA, November 8, 1943, a son of the late Leroy and Laura (Calvin) Chase, and lived in MA.

He married his high school sweetheart, Ellen, with whom they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary November 7, 2015 with their beloved children and grandchildren.

He attended Northeastern University, Boston and UMASS, Lowell earning his BS in Mechanical Engineering.

He served his country in Saigon, Vietnam, specializing in Photo Reconnaissance. He returned home and was employed by Scully Signal, Wilmington, MA for over 30 years in various capacities ranging from design engineering, sales and management.

Besides his wife, he is survived and will be deeply missed by his sons, Rob of Andover, MA, Shawn and his wife, Judy of Andover, MA, and his daughter, Kristin and her husband, Colin of Derry, NH; five grandchildren, Emily and Annie Chase, Eion, Mia and Emma Chase; two sisters, Ann Reagan of Tewksbury, MA, Susan and her husband, Richie of Melrose, MA; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, James Arthur Chase of Phoenix, AZ.

The family would like to express our sincere appreciation to the staff at Saints Campus Lowell General and the Lowell Fire Department and Trinity Ambulance medical staff for their specialized care during this difficult time. A special thank you to Dr. Irwin Buckwald, M.D., F.C.C.P., P.C. for his compassion and excellent treatment for many years.

At the request of the family, services were private. Interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Tewksbury, MA.
