WILMINGTON, MA — Here are highlights from the Wilmington Police Log for the week of Sunday, May 29, 2016.
Sunday, May 29:
- An anonymous caller reported of a loud party in the area of Reed Street. Police spoke with the homeowner, who assured them they’ll be no further issues. (12:46am)
- Police received report of a lobster in the road on Hathaway Road. Police contacted the Animal Control Officer. (10:30am)
- An unspecified assault incident was investigated at Sonic on Main Street. (11:37am)
- Police received report a yellow ATV operating up and down Marcia Road. Driver was gone by the time police arrived. (12:14pm)
- Police was later able to locate the ATV on North Street. Police spoke to party who admitted he was driving it earlier. Police advised him. (1:16pm)
- Police received report of a suspicious white suburban on Grand Street. Vehicle checked OK. It was a family out looking for their lost dog. (8:53pm)
Monday, May 30:
- Wilmington Police located a black 2016 Kia Soul in the parking lot at Regency Place that was wanted in an armed robbery in Wakefield. State Police’s K9 was on scene, but subject was not found. Wakefield Police had vehicle towed to their station. (12:35am)
- Police received report of a woman begging for money in the Market Basket parking lot. Woman was described as white, 5’2″ heavy set wearing a black & gray shirt. Police were unable to locate. (11:52am)
- Police received multiple calls that the railroad crossing on Salem Street has its bar stuck in the down position with no train, causing a traffic back-up. A Tewksbury Officer was on scene to assist with traffic control. (12:07pm)
- Police receive a call from a Salem Street resident. A mother said there was a disturbance at her home approximately 45 minutes ago and an individual punched her son in the face, who is refusing medical attention. (12:32pm)
- A water pipe burst at Winchell Road and Burnap Street, spraying water into the air. Police notified the Water Department. (12:49pm)
- A Cary Street caller requested an officer due to her neighbor taking down a tree allegedly on her property. (1:27pm)
- A caller reported a man was being disruptive in the Salvation Army parking lot, tossing furniture. Man left before the police arrived. (1:33pm)
- A Grove Avenue caller reported her 12 foot. aluminum bass boat (valued at $300) was stolen sometime between Saturday and the time of the call. (4:57pm)
- K9 Ridic underwent training at the Boutwell School. (7:48pm)
- Police observed a suspicious vehicle in the Salvation Army parking lot. An individual was going through a dumpster behind the building and was sent on his way. (8:26pm)
Tuesday, May 31:
- A walk-in party reported a road rage incident on Richmond Street between a black 2014 Toyota Highlander and a gray 2005 Nissan Morano. Parties were arguing and then the other operator sideswiped her passenger mirror, causing very minor damage. Station officer left a message with the operator of the second vehicle. (7:31am)
- A Rhode Island Road caller reported damage to construction equipment. (9:08am)
- A 6-month quarantine was issued for a cat on Garden Avenue. (12:06pm)
- A black 2013 Chevy Impala and a brown 1998 Toyota Corolla were involved in a crash at Route 62 and the 93 North Exit 40 ramp. No injuries reported. One vehicle was towed. (1:04pm)
- Police issued a citation for a driver who failed to yield to a pedestrian in the crosswalk near the Whitefield School site on Middlesex Avenue. (2:06pm)
- A black 2013 Ford Taurus and a blue 2007 motorcycle were involved in a crash on Andover Street. Operator of motorcycle ‘laid the bike down’ to avoid collision. Drivers exchanged paperwork. No injuries reported. (5:16pm)
- Fire Department responded to a grill fire on Swain Road. (5:26pm)
- A 9mm shell casing was found in an unspecified parking lot on Middlesex Avenue. (6:22pm)
Wednesday, June 1:
- Police stopped a juvenile on a scooter on Ring Avenue. Situation checked OK. (2:19am)
- Police assisted in shutting down Concord Street due to a fire at a building on Concord Street in North Reading. (2:29am)
- Police assisted the Fire Department with a car fire at Charles River Labs on Ballardvale Street. Police officer used a fire extinguisher in his cruiser. Fire Department then handled the situation. (6:03am)
- A gray 2005 Ford Escape and a blue 2016 Mazda Sport were involved in a minor crash on Starbucks on Main Street. (7:14am)
- A caller reported a SUV passed a school bus with its lights flashing on Glen Road. (7:44am)
- Animal Control Officer removed a deceased turkey on West Street. (8:26am)
- Ederson Lemos Teixeira (32, Lowell) was arrested for the unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and marked lanes violation. Police also cited the company’s owner. Teixeira was driving a 6-wheel pick-up truck. (8:50am)
- Police received call of a snapping turtle in the Adams Street area. (9:26pm)
- Employee at Main Street Consignment & Thrift called police after requesting a customer leave the store because her child was touching items. Police responded, advised the shopper and sent her on her way. (1:50pm)
- Police received report a woman panhandling outside of Market Basket. Police responded and arrested Karen Salgado (48, Lowell) for trespassing. (2:03pm)
Thursday, June 2:
- Anthony Perrotta (20, Billerica) was arrested on operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and outstanding warrants. (8:19am)
- Police responded to complaint in Rite Aid parking lot from an employee for the Learning Experience regarding a dog possibly tied to a car bumper and being dragged around. Dog has mobility issues and situation checked okay. (9:37am)
- Police received report of larceny of flags from grave site in Wildwood Cemetery. (7:54pm)
- A vehicle struck a curb on Woburn Street and left debris all over roadway. Police responded and found that the vehicle received a flat tire. After changing the tire, driver said he would return to Woburn Street to clean up the debris. (8:12pm)
- Police investigated a suspicious vehicle parked behind the Woburn Street School. Family was looking for its dog and situation checked okay. (10:53pm)
- Police received call that a pitfall got out of house approximately an hour ago. Dog quickly returned. (10:55pm)
Friday, June 3:
- Evan Guy Wattles (28, Tewksbury) was arrested on warrants. Wattles came into contact with Wattles after checking on a vehicle at Town Beach. (12:51am)
- Police noticed sprinkler head was broken at Rotary Park, behind the bleachers on the third base side, with water flowing out. Police notified DPW. (2:14am)
- Sean Sum Lohn (48, Lynn) was arrested on a warrant. John was pulled over on Concord Street. (9:15am)
- A female caller from Aldrich Road attempted to order food on the 911 line. When she realized she was calling 911, she stated there was no emergency. (12:06pm)
- Animal Control Officer & DPW rescued ducklings from a drain on Eleanor Drive. (5:47pm)
- A Washington Avenue resident reported car was parked on his lawn. He checked with his neighbors — none were taking ownership. Resident called back to report the car just drove off with a young male operator. Police was unable to locate the vehicle. (6:47pm)
Saturday, June 4:
- An anonymous caller reported a loud party in the back yard of a Broad Street home. Police responded and restored the peace. (2:56am)
- A Dartmouth Avenue resident reported at some time during the night, his home’s security cameras were torn off. Police responded and confirmed the damage. Cameras were inoperable and footage could not be viewed. (7:36am)
- A Burlington Avenue resident reported a bird got its foot stuck in a patio chair. Police responded and was able to free the bird. (12:33pm)
- A caller reported an animal unresponsive in a vehicle in the Savers parking lot. Police responded. The “animal” was actually a stuffed animal. (3:19pm)
- Fox Maxwell (19, Winchester) was issued a summons for leaving the scene of property damage. Maxwell allegedly struck a parked vehicle on Lords Court and drove off. (6:48pm)
- Police received report of a loud party on Wicks Circle. Police responded. Adults were taking party inside upon arrival. (10:35pm)
- Police received report of a loud party on Revere Avenue. Police responded. Party was moved indoors. (11:06pm)
