WILMINGTON, MA — The Wilmington School Committee recently accepted a donation of $5,364 from the Wilmington Educational Foundation.
The Foundation provided three grants through their ‘Educator Exploration’ Grant Program:
- $1,364 towards Principals Jeffrey Strasnik and Charlotte Phillips traveling to schools in Finland to observe, interview, and examine one of the most successful educational programs in the world.
- $1,500 towards Middle School Visual Arts teacher Neal Roberts traveling to Australia to explore art galleries and exhibits on how aboriginal art has influenced contemporary art.
- $1,5000 towards Middle School Social Studies teacher Patrick Taylor traveling to Florence, Rome, Paris and Prague to study geography and cultures.
The Foundation also provided an additional $1,000 to partially cover two grant requests:
- $600 towards incoming Director of Student Services Jennifer Mahon to attend the Universal Design For Learning Presenter’s Academy.
- $400 towards WHS Foreign Language Head Carlos-Louis Brown to attend the Massachusetts Foreign Language Association’s Proficiency Academy at Westfield State University.
