Contacting Your School Committee Has Never Been Easier

WILMINGTON, MA — Hillary Clinton could learn a thing or two from the Wilmington School Committee.

School Committee Gets New Email Addresses

Each School Committee member recently received a ‘@wpsk12.com’ district-sanctioned email address, so their personal emails and committee-related emails can be easily stored in two separate accounts.

“It is highly recommended that as public officials and elected officials, we use a [separate] email address for any communication related to school committee business,” School Committee Chair Julie Broussard told her fellow members at their most recent meeting.

School Committee’s Email Addresses Now Publicly Posted

Each Wilmington School Committee member also agreed to post his or her new email address on the school committee’s website so parents and residents can more easily contact them directly.

The email addresses can be found online HERE.

One Caveat — Don’t Consider The Exchanges To Be Private

It’s important to note that, with few exceptions, any email and attachment sent or received to a school committee member about school committee business is subject to the state’s public record law.

The Massachusetts Association of School Committees has provided the committee with a legal disclaimer that will be automatically generated at the bottom of any email a committee member sends out alerting the respondent of the public record law.
