READING, MA — Congratulations to Austin Prep senior Vicky McDermott, of Wilmington, who has been granted a Fellowship Award from the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association.
She receives a $1,000 scholarship and employment at a 10-week summer work assignment in the communications, computer or electronics fields. Vicky will work at Draper Lab in its Cambridge facility and earn a salary.
Vicky is the Class of 2016 salutatorian, a National Merit Commended Scholar and secretary of the National Honor Society. She was also a member of the Cross Country team and Track & Field team (co-captain) and the Robotics team (vice president of programming). Her activities include participation in tutoring, the Drama Club, Classics Club, Code Club, Sci-Fi Club and Peer Leaders, to name just a few. She will attend the Franklin Olin College of Engineering.
