TEWKSBURY, MA — James “Jim” John Pollard, 77, of Tewksbury, passed away on May 24, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. Jim is survived by his wife of 51 years, Gail; daughter, Susan Pollard Truong and her husband Dinh of Pelham, NH; son, James Pollard and wife Kara of Denville, NJ; and his six adored grandchildren, Shannon, Makena, Colin, Jack, Kaile, and Kaeden. Jim is also survived by five brothers; Joel, John, Larry, Clifford, and Paul; and sisters Norma (Gurczak) and Theresa (Ehrlich), and their families.
Jim was born in Newburyport, Massachusetts, on April 30, 1939 to his parents Gretchen (Conway) and John Pollard. He graduated from Newburyport High School and Fitchburg State University where he received his bachelors and masters degrees, and was a dedicated high school teacher for over 35 years in Wilmington and Framingham.
Jim will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather, a cherished friend, avid golfer, respected teacher and coach. He enjoyed sports greatly, playing ice hockey, tennis, golf and skiing for many years. In addition, he enjoyed watching the Patriots, Red Sox, Bruins and Celtics win championships.
Jim touched the hearts of many and was a true blessing to all who knew him.
Calling hours will be Friday, May 27, from 3-7 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee Street in Tewksbury. His funeral will be held Saturday, May 28, at 9:30 a.m., from the funeral home, followed by his Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. at Saint Dorothy’s Catholic Church, 120 Main Street in Wilmington.
