TRAFFIC ADVISORY: Kilby St. Water Main Installation To Begin On May 23

WILMINGTON, MA — Starting the week of Monday, May 23, the Water Department will begin the installation of a new 8-inch cement lined ductile iron water main on Kilby Street, from Carmel Street to Doanne Street. The new 8-inch water main, which will be replacing an existing 2-inch main, will provide improvements in both water quality and quantity.

Work will begin at approximately 8am. Please try and refrain from parking vehicles on the road during construction, but if this is unavoidable, please park on the even side of the road.

Crews anticipate completing the main installation in approximately three weeks and will begin transferring individual water services to the new main approximately one week later. Residents will be notified by Water Department personnel if their water services will be temporarily interrupted.  Unfortunately, difficulties can occur and water services could be unexpectedly disrupted.  The Water Department suggests residents keep a gallon of water in the refrigerator during the project in the event of unexpected issues.
