Wilmington Youth Soccer’s Latest In-Town Game Summaries (May 14)

WILMINGTON, MA — Below are Wilmington Youth Soccer in-town game summaries from Saturday, May 14, 2016.

Boys Kinders:

Chicago Fire vs. FC Dallas
The air was full of excitement, as the much-anticipated match between Chicago Fire and FC Dallas commenced. Fantastic ball skill were displayed by Caden Merritt and Nate DiSchino which resulted in early goals by Lucas Pereira and Damian DiCenso. The midfield play of Braeden Vanisky and Austin O’Connell kept the Fire in excellent shape. Mark Cataldo, usually known for his offensive prowess, played great defensively.

Boys Grade 1:

NY Red Bulls vs D.C. United
The crowd was kept on the edge of their seats this week as the New York Red Bulls, led by the offensive skills of Zachary Atwater and Rafael Hernandez Osorno resulted in scoring opportunities by Preston Hunt and Nicholas Melaragni. The defense was not to be left out of this one either as Jackson Griffith kept the ball out of their zone for much of the game.

Seattle Sounders vs. Houston Dynamo
The crowd was kept on the edge of their seats this week as the Seattle Sounders led by a strong offensive effort resulted in goals scored by Collin Holman, Richard Holland, Cael Considine, Cole Falk, and Dylan Mainini. The defense was not to be left out of this one either as Nolan White kept the ball out of their zone for much of the game.

NE Revolution vs. Columbus Crew
What a day for the NE Revolution as they attempted time after time to penetrate the Columbus Crew defense; only to be shut down. Fernando Gunera shots sailed high, while Nathan Anderson’s shots went wide. The Revs tough offense were once again left to wonder if they would score as Cameron Molina, Ethan Lydon and James Savoie were blocked inches away from the Crew’s net. The crowd was nonetheless treated to a spectacular game.

Girls Grade 1:

Portland Thorns vs. Western NY Flash
The Western New York Flash would not back down in this back and forth match. Goals by Celina Vo and Gabby Carriglio brought the crowd to a frenzy. A spectacular display of defensive skills was shown by Emma Tarin and Angelina Vo. In addition, the midfield play of Kalea Lamb, Amy Keohane, and Katelyn Perkins kept pressure on the opponent’s net.

Chicago Red Stars vs. Boston Breakers
It was a beautiful morning at the Shawsheen fields for the match between Chicago Red Stars and the Boston Breakers. The Boston Breakers defensive stand, led by Ellie Gouthro and Leah Hanafin, not only struck fear in the Chicago Red Stars, but will be feared by future opponents as well. It was this team defense that led to counter attacks by Isabel Carriere, ultimately leading to goals scored by Abigail Engvaldsen, Megan Smith and Emma Nolan.

Seattle Reign vs. FC Kansas City
On the other side of the ball for FC Kansas City was an incredible offensive performance by Hailey Reguera and Mackenzie Libitz , while goals scored by Madison O’Donoghue & Shannon Hounsell got FC Kansas City on the board. With a rock solid defensive stand led by Danielle Chillemi FC Kansas City was never out of this game. The midfield team of Caroline Donovan & Danielle Chillemi could only be classified as awesome
