WILDCAT WAKEUP: WHS Girls Tennis Losing Streak Extends To 7 Games

WILMINGTON, MA —The WHS Girls Varsity Tennis Team (3-10) was defeated by Wakefield, 4-1, at Wilmington High on Wednesday afternoon.

  • Wilmington freshman Emily Hill defeated Sarah Stumpf, 6-0, 6-0.
  • Wilmington junior Sam Maragioglio fell to Grace Hurley, 6-4, 6-3.
  • Wilmington senior Jess Nussbaum fell to Ashby Chapman, 6-0, 6-1.
  • Wilmington juniors Christina Woods and Lou Schramm fell to Darcy Drago and Miley Watson, 7-6, 3-6, 6-3.
  • Wilmington junior Christina Wright and sophomore Lauren Field fell to Jenna Mello and Haley Tanner, 6-1, 6-3.

The WHS Girls Varsity Tennis Team (3-8) then dropped their seventh straight in a match-up against Watertown, 3-2, in Watertown on Thursday afternoon.

  • Wilmington freshman Emily Hill fell to Lilian Marr, 6-2, 6-1.
  • Wilmington junior Sam Maragioglio fell to Michelle Aftandilian, 6-4, 6-2.
  • Wilmington senior Jess Nussbaum fell to Rachel Aftandilian, 6-2, 6-4.
  • Wilmington juniors Christina Woods and Lou Schramm defeated Sofia Farad and Lily Pennington, 6-3, 6-2.
  • Wilmington junior Christina Wright and sophomore Lauren Field defeated Ayah Kahim and Eliza Shakhvdeva, 6-2, 6-1.

NEXT UP: The WHS Girls Tennis Team (3-8) takes on Stoneham on Monday, May 16 at 3:30pm at Wilmington High.
