WILMINGTON, MA — After suffering a 12-3 drubbing from Reading earlier in the week, the WHS Varsity Softball Team (6-4) rebounded with a 1-0 victory over Wakefield on Friday at Veteran’s Field in Wakefield. The Wildcats have won 6 of their last 7 games.
Wilmington freshman starting pitcher Ally Moran got the best of a pitcher’s duel, shutting out Wakefield with a complete game 3-hitter. Moran was able to get out of bases loaded jams unscathed in both the third and seventh innings.
Wilmington scored the lone run of the game in the seventh inning, when pinch hitter Ryan Bailey led off with a single. She would later score on a triple from first baseman Antonia Kieran.
NEXT UP: The WHS Softball Team (6-4) takes on Watertown on Monday, May 16 at 6pm at Wilmington Town Park.
