PHOTO OF THE DAY: Kane Honored For Her 9 Years As School Committee Chair

WILMINGTON, MA — At the end of Wednesday night’s School Committee Meeting, new Committee Chair Julie Broussard surprised longtime chair Peggy Kane with a plaque.

Broussard was unanimously elected chair at the Committee’s April 27th meeting, after Kane announced she would not seek the position for a 10th straight year.

“It has been a privilege to be Chair for many years… but it’s time for someone else to take over,” Kane said at that meeting.  “I’m happy with this decision.  I’m glad other members have stepped forward to fill the role.”

The plaque, which includes Kane’s gavel, reads: “Presented to Ms. Margaret Kane: In honor of her dedicated commitment to the students of Wilmington Public Schools for her service as the Wilmington School Committee Chair, 2007 to 2016.”
